Well... I'm going to go to my room and cry now.THE NEWS
The Redskins have been unable to re-sign middle linebacker Antonio Pierce to a new contract, meaning he will likely become a free agent on March 2. Team officials previously expressed confidence that they would come to terms with Piece, but talks have broken down, according to the Washington Post. Piece recorded 112 tackles last season.
OUR VIEW
Piece would draw plenty of interest as a free agent, as he performed very well while Mike Barrow was sidelined last season due to tendonitis in his knee. The Skins could take their chances with Barrow next season, but they are more likely to release him in June when the salary cap ramifications are not as severe.
Forget Coles for a minute... Some even worse news.

Will everyone please relax. Pierce was good this year, but if he decides not to resign then fine. He was a product of a defensive system that played great together not one individual will cause this unit to collapse. There is a slew of FA talent at MLB that can easily fill his void and he should realize his worth. Ex: Morris - Ind sure he wouldn't mind playing along side Washington again, or Bell - Pitts, or Claibourne - Minn, Holdman or Davis - Clev are not bad, neither is Fields - Car who is a little old but has come back with great appreciation for being able to play again. All can be obtained at a reasonable price and are probably better MLBers.
