"When we played the Patriots last year [Eagles running back] Brian Westbrook fumbled a punt, and we were all down there scrambling for it. [Patriots linebacker] Mike Vrabel had my testicles in his hand, and he was squeezing them. Where the football ends up depends on who has the strongest will or the strongest hands. Guys reach inside the face mask to gouge your eyes. But the biggest thing is the grabbing of the testicles. It is crazy."
I found this on another forum and I believe that this is a real quote.
If this is true then they need to let Stinkson grab the loose balls , because he doesn't have any of his own to worry about.
Then I read the article and I thought everyone was insane in that locker room for NOT wearing one...I'm sorry but when I play JV or whatever I'm always cupped up and wearing a black visor, so I don't get hit in my eyes or...down under.

I was never allowed to wear a dark visor...how the hell did you pull that off?

Sadly, that stuff has been going on for years. And to think, Vrabel has a wife and kids. I hope they don't read this quote. I also hope he washes his hands after each game.

I just put it on. The coach said "How are you gonna pass in that thing?" I said. "Trust me I can do it." At the time I was 2nd string QB. We went out the next game, and the first string guy got injured and they sent me out. I scrambled and then threw for a TD to win the game. After that, in the locker room speech they said from now on I was allowed to wear the Visor. The 3rd string guy tried it, but they wouldnt let him.
I can't imagine how the coach would have Chewed me out if I had thrown picks in that game.
i'm pretty sure guys that NFL players don't wear cups. supporters but not cups. i remember reading this in maybe an SI (or another sports publication) about this.
May #21 never be worn again by another Redskin but may every Redskin play like they are wearing #21 on their backs.
I just take the hit. That just take away some quickness. Not much, but some.
Also, I have only seen one person ever wear a visor after Boys Club where a girl wore one. I once saw someone wear one in the 7 th grade... We all got a kick out of it and would try to hit it "on mistake."
You all remember when Trung wore that clear visor and it had all those finger prints on it? I once wondered why I never saw a face mask on him.

For me, contact sports always = cup. I'll admit I didnt always wear it, but some people did me dirty on alot of Sacks.(aka fingers to the face, hits in the helmet that werent called, trying to hit my groin, steppin on me etc.)

It's not that it affects vision. In fact, I'd have worn it to HELP my vision. I wear contacts and I sometimes had glare problems in day games.
They wouldn't let me wear a dark visor due to the reasoning that if I had gotten a concussion (I had gotten one a year earlier), the trainer would need to look at my eyes without removing me helmet...a problem with a visor in the way.

I never did.
The issue goes like this: If somebody -thinks- that he can get away with it, he'll try.
On the other hand, if he is -sure- that you will rip his off even if he tries, he won't try. Just my
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
ive played football and i still play football, and ill tell you out of a 54 man team maybe 10 wear cups
That's being real generous.
