The Tuna and that team in Texas

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Cowboys | Parcells Had Little Confidence in Romo/Henson - from www.KFFL.com
Sat, 15 Jan 2005 08:22:32 -0800

Matt Mosley, of the Dallas Morning News, reports during an interview with close friend Pat Summerall, Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells expressed his lack of confidence in the club's backup QBs Tony Romo and Drew Henson during this past season. "If I start one of those guys, by the end of the first quarter, we'll have 10 sacks and two interceptions and we'll be behind, 21-0," Summerall recalled Parcells saying. "He (Parcells) just thought it would be a disaster. He would be embarrassed. They would be embarrassed and the fans would be embarrassed."

Cowboys | Parcells Had Mulled Retirement - from www.KFFL.com
Sat, 15 Jan 2005 08:16:01 -0800

Matt Mosley, of the Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells had considered retiring after this season, but has since decided to remain the club's head coach for 2005. "I think he did very seriously," close friend Pat Summerall said of Parcells contemplating retirement. "But I think those ideas and those thoughts are gone." Summerall later added that Parcells had told him he tried too hard to be a, "nice guy" to the media and that "I've got to go back to being a bad guy."

I think BP will pick up a QB in free agency if Vinny doesn't come back, That's if Bill comes back

The only good(football) team Texas has is the Texans( ever met a bad Texans fan?). The Cowboys have limited success under Tuna and will probaly we worse off without him. They have a foggy future.

Good Post. But I won't say this is the end of the good old Girls from TX because I could jinx it.

Still wishful thinking...

As long as they're good for two wins against that team in DC, I'm happy. :)

Never met a Texans fan of either type. They're too new to have fans around here.

Dallas will definitely pursue Rivers. Whether the Chargers may be interested in a trade is another story of course...

... wow, and here I thought Drew Henson was the second coming.

ROTFALMAO

... and i'm sure comments like:

"If I start one of those guys, by the end of the first quarter, we'll have 10 sacks and two interceptions and we'll be behind, 21-0" is going to do wonders to instill confidence in them.

Remember Redskin fans... Drew Henson is the NEXT great thing... Cowboy fans have been telling us all year...

... so what if even their coach doesn't believe it... the next time a Cowpuke tells you how good Henson's going to be... try to FORGET that even the Cowboys coach doesn't believe that company line.

Henson must be special to be grouped together in the same sentence as Tony Romo. :-"

Parcells never publicly supports his QB's. Phil Simms hated him for it. The exception was Vinny Testarverde (Mostly because they are in the same age group). But I honestly don't see a move of any kind taking place at the position this year. Henson's got all the tools to be a good, if not great QB. The big problem was he had serious trouble calling out blitz protecting (as evidenced against Chicago; as soon as he snapped the ball there were 4 orange jerseys in the backfield). That's partially the center's call, but the QB is responsible for that as well. Once the guy learns how to call out the proper O-Line protection for himself, he'll be fine.

You saw what happened to Patrick Ramsey the first two years. That would have happened to Henson this year had Parcells played him. He'll get better at it next year.

Is it polite to start making jokes again about the Yankees third-base situation?

Of course, Alex R. does better than "just fine", but is there some (fearful) symmetry that ARod left Dallas (i mean...Arlington) to play third for the Yankees just when Henson left the Yankees (more exactly, their farm system) to play QB for Dallas?

Was it a deal between Steinbrenner and Jones?

Not really.

The Texans were created for the SOLE PURPOSE of pleasing Texas football fans who hated the Dallas Cowboys. They all root for them because they're NOT Dallas.

The Texans were created because the league
was tired of hearing the 3rd rate morons
who cried they wanted a team back. so the
league gave in and gave them a franchise
back. Now I hope they end up crap canning the
texans and give them to LA like it should
have been in the first place

I wouldnt be surprised to seem them make a bid for the playoffs next year. They did alright this year at 7-9 which is a HUGE improvement over 5-11.
