Shawn Springs could return to practice later this week, but his status remains uncertain for this Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. The veteran cornerback sat out the 49ers game due to a concussion suffered in the Dec. 12 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles.
"There might be a chance we could get Shawn back for some work this week," head coach Joe Gibbs said. "We'll see toward the end of the week."

Springs' official status for Sunday's game will be announced on Wednesday when the Redskins release their injury report.

If Springs is unable to play, Walt Harris would start in his place for the second consecutive game. In the 49ers game, Harris recorded a key interception that helped seal the win in the fourth quarter.

Elsewhere on the injury front, the Redskins emerged from the 49ers game with an assortment of bumps and bruises--and little else of note.

Safety Sean Taylor suffered a bruised lip that required stitches in the first half; he returned to the game. H-back Chris Cooley sustained a calf injury, but he also finished the game.

"I think other than that, it's the best we've come out of a game this year," Gibbs said.

Gibbs praised LaVar Arrington for his effort on Saturday after missing the previous 11 games with knee injuries.

"He could easily have said, Hey look, I'm not running the risk of injuring this thing, we're not going anywhere, so I'm going to sit down,'" Gibbs said. "He didn't do that. He was really upset that we didn't let him play [a week earlier] against Philly. So I think it says a lot about his competitive spirit, the fact that he cares about the football team and that he wants to get back in there and play.

Arrington saw action in a limited number of plays as coaches tried to ease him back into playing condition. Lemar Marshall started in his place.

"I think we had about the right number of plays for him," Gibbs said. "He didn't seem to get tired. And he made some plays. It was good for him and I think it gave him some confidence."

I'm not too sure about the Cowboys wide recievers. Springs is our fastest defensive back...who is the number one wide out on the Boys that he would have covered?

The fastest is Glenn, though I think he might be matched up with Keyshawn more.

Hmm, Harris seemed to be getting burned quite often on Saturday--for a game this big I would feel a lot better knowing that we would have Springs in there. Then again, injuries to our secondary have been the fashion this season--and time after time they still step it up and perform.

Redskins Notes: Cornerback Shawn Springs, who missed Saturday's game with a concussion, was examined by a doctor yesterday and was cleared to return to practice. "It looks like he'll play Sunday," director of sports medicine Bubba Tyer said. . . .

NOOOOOOOO!!!! Actually, I didn't think Jimoh did extremely terrible. He actually made a few plays chasing guys down with his speed after they beat him.

Reminds me of Trotter a bit.
