I was supposed to be ALONE against the whole board on this one. Now you have spoiled it! And this is NOTHING Mr.

What about:

Hate to pick against the Redskins, and this is one pick that I'll be rooting to get wrong.
And here I am making you a noble Prince in the previous week!

Do you call yourself a Redskin Fan? What kind of a Fan would go against its own flesh and blood with the most hated enemy? A cannibal? A monster? A beast?

Do me a kind favour after all these weeks:

Please go to the bedroom and watch yourself in the mirror. What do you see? Nothing different? Well, let me tell you what you see:

You see the face of a TRAITOR in his heart.

What kind of action would Nelson have taken against you if he knew that you thought the French would win the Battle of Trafalgar?

Do me another favour. Go to Trafalgar square in London and tell them that you had doubts, that you hesitated, that you were not sure, that you "do not have good vibes"!!!

No self-respecting Skins fan is worthy of ever wearing burgundy and gold with his/her comrades in arms and do this to us. If you are our real brother, and I do not use this word loosely, you will reconsider this pick.

The memory of our fallen and living heroes shall not be tarnished with these insults. I would gladly take a loss in the weekly score rather than the indignity to side with the enemy at any time.

(Besides you do not want me to shift my attention away from somebody else against you for the rest of the season, do you? )

:D Ouch, I can hardly change the pick now, can I, after all this hullabaloo?! You seem to be in some sort of emotional turmoil old chap - do yourself a favour, and have a nice cup of tea, possible with a toasted crumpet. I "reconsidered" the pick about fifteen times before I made it, and it all came down to the fact that the odds of the Redskins winning this game are not good.

I took a look in the bedroom mirror, and was stunned to see Elvis Presley. Then I remembered that I had moved the mirror, so I went into the hall, and there I was. The same poor fool that had been there this morning. The same melancholy soul who thought that the Redskins will screw it up on Sunday.

This is exactly the same feeling that I get before every Cowboys game. Had I been participating in this thread from the start of the season, I would have picked the Cowboys in game one as well. It's a kind of masochistic reverse logic - if my plan comes off, the Cowboys will stink up the joint on Sunday.

Chuffing heck, I'm not even the only one to have predicted a Cowboys win! I think you're just playing with me, old boy. :) Presumably, some sort of initiation process. No doubt, a visit to Smack will follow, and then a horse's head will arrive by airmail tomorrow.

By the way, Nelson would have had me flogged, flayed and flaming well shot. But then, he would have been right, given that the French navy was about as much use as a one legged man in an arse kicking contest. Well, OK, they were better than that. But we won, so I can say what I like.

Of course you can. That is the WHOLE point.

I have heard that excuse before in this thread. Does not work.

Chuffing heck, I'm not even the only one to have predicted a Cowboys win!
True. But the ONLY other guy has admitted dementia as an excuse:

You have to have sympathy for the self-admitted less fortunate mentally handicapped posters. They have a good excuse.

I have never been more SERIOUS in my life.

Actually let's not get carried away here. ONLY posters that put up (and the admin who owns the joint and mods) have a right to say something here. Those that do not put up, well, they pay dearly. But nobody else that does not participate has moral authority to speak here.

By the way, Nelson would have had me flogged, flayed and flaming well shot. But then, he would have been right, given that the French navy was about as much use as a one legged man in an arse kicking contest. Well, OK, they were better than that. But we won, so I can say what I like.
And he would have done RIGHT. But this is the whole point. WE WON the last time.

The lengths that some of us have to go in order to make better fans out of some of you.

This is a very SERIOUS post indeed. ROTFALMAO

OK, Canadians burned Washington D.C. in return in August 24-25, 1814 and President Madison had to flee the White House. But why do we want to repeat the whole process all over again?

There are still times where I'm so glad to have been brought up as a member of the British Commonwealth!

Okay UK Fan - times up! please forget about all that wasted tea and change the pick, for Nelson's sake!

This is the year! We will win this game! You could be the "perfecto"! Think about it - the power, the glory!

Apparently, this sentiment comes straight from the top, as CNN reports:

Don't dictate to me, Canadian leader tells U.S.

Wednesday, December 14, 2005; Posted: 4:38 p.m. EST (21:38 GMT)

RICHMOND, British Columbia (Reuters) -- Prime Minister Paul Martin escalated a war of words with the United States on Wednesday, telling Washington not to dictate to him what topics he can raise in the run-up to Canada's January 23 election.

You can read the rest here.

I have NEVER been involved in a political thread in this board and I never will. This is a serious issue. So, no comment. :-#

But let me take advantage of this opportunity to REMIND everybody that this is a SHORT WEEK. Send your Hognostications ASAP if you want them to count in this magnificent event!

Absolutely, right, RiC. Let's keep this thread on topic. The TRO Hognostications team is hard at work to improve on last week's 12-4 mark. This week, I've been assured that, dare I say it, the likelihood of a TRO perfecto is STRONGER THAN EVER. Stay tuned.

"The The Redeemed One Hognostications Team"? Perhaps you could abbreviate to TTROHT, and then refer to it as "the TTROHT", or:

The the the Redeemed One Hognostications Team.

Attention RiC & Punu: Prepare to be "TTROTH-LED" this week by TRO's "Picks of Integrity".

Here's the way the games will go this weekend:

New England
Kansas City - At least I hope so!
Denver
Seattle
San Diego - The Colts can't really go undefeated, can they?
St. Louis
Miami
Minnesota - Brad Johnson is a winner.
Carolina - Poor Saints.
Jacksonville
Arizona - Hey, somebody's going to win this game.
Cincinnati
Oakland
Washington
Chicago - The weather keeps the birds from soaring.
Baltimore - Green Bay phones it in.

In the famous words of AZHog last week, great minds think alike. But in your own famous words last week: You are not going to catch up with me in this way. [-X

Enjoy!

Hell yeah, win one for the Commonwealth! Ah, those happy days when we ruled half the world without having to bomb the locals.
As for changing the pick - no can do. I'll root for the Skins, I'll bleed burgundy and gold, and I'll swear a pox on the Cowboys, but this is professional Hognosticating, and I think the Cowboys start as favourites for this one. If the Redskins win, I'll take all the ridicule going, and I'll be bloody glad to do so. :)

Dear Light From The North:

Those were very kind words in your Week 14 Standings post. Thanks. I generally feel 10 to 12 picks are obvious (though not necessarily correct) and the rest are toss-ups or hunches. It seems to me that this week has only 7 obvious and 9 toss-ups. I may come back to Earth this week but here goes:

PAT
KAN
DEN

ARZ
CAR
MIA
RAM
PIT
IND
SEA
JAG

CIN

How can they be obvious and not correct? Obvious for what then?

In any event, this will be a good test of your consistency to make "obvious" and "correct" picks.

Wanna bet you do not get them 100%?

Come on! Many are obvious!

For instance: Last week an obvious (but incorrect) pick was San Diego over Miami. The only people who picked the Fins were Miami fans or lucky lunatics. This week an obvious pick is Cincinnati over Detroit. We do not yet know if it is correct though.

As for that bet - you're on. I'll bet you a 4 cold La Fin du Mondes, Maudites, Eau Benites, or Don de Dieux that I miss at least one!

"TRO"..... OK that's short for The Redeeded One.... no problem.

Then I see "the TRO" and that's where I think I drifted. Isn't the T in "TRO" short for "the"?
Seems like it should be something other then "the The Redeemed One"

We ALL knew that!

But since this competition is about picking not the favourites but the true winners, What makes an obvious choice? A favourite? I beg to differ. In fact those choices are what divides the men from the children. Just look at little Redeemed.

And that is why we play this game. Let's see you score this week. We recognise achievement but we also scorn failure.

But then again you are not "The Courageous One". You are not "The Man of Integrity". Let alone "The Redeemed One".
