Both would be loved in DC. Both would renew the dream, of a dominant team at FedEx.
Come on, Colts... make this final. Let's do this. Who ever is our quarterback, to quote Doug Williams, quoting Joe Jacoby... "red, yellow, brown or green... you're our quarterback."

Tape says he can throw farther, with accuracy. The differences are not that big a deal. Not much to argue about... so, gotta wonder why you reach for it... You gonna be pissed if we are "stuck" with Luck?

I'd never say I want RG over AL simply because ... but in a dead heat I think one is clearly a better match for the DC area.
BTW - I took that test. I'll PM you. It was very interesting.

No, I've just always heard RGIII has the stronger arm.
The buzz about Robert Griffin being chosen ahead of Andrew Luck doesn’t fly with a lot of astute NFL front office men.
It’s common for a player who has been No. 1 for a long time to start getting knocked close to the draft, however, why do a good portion of talent evaluators like Luck more? He has performed at a high level for four years compared to one for RGIII and is further along. He played a pro style offense whereas RGIII played in an unconventional offense. He shows better ball placement. He is better at avoiding pressure in the pocket, working through progressions and finding open men. He is stronger and sturdier.
The argument for RGII is that he has better arm strength and might have a higher ceiling. But many NFL men think Luck remains the surest bet in the draft, and that matters when the player goes No. 1 overall.

Perhaps I'm wrong... I do like Pompei... but, unfortunately, my divining rod isn't working properly at the moment...
yeah... that's it... a bad divining rod.

Let me see if if I got this one straight. Jason and Donovan brought the people together in DC more than Joe and Mark?
No. But Doug
may have more than Joe and RGIII
has a chance to bring people together in DC
in way -
that goes beyond wins and losses -
that Luck could not.

I would have to agree with you about Doug; however, Doug winning a Super Bowl was a groundbreaking - stereotype shattering feat. He was the FIRST and that always means a lot to any disenfranchised people to see one of their own to be the first. Decades of hearing that the black man was not smart enough to play QB in the NFL. Jimmy The Greek's words still slamming into people's ears. That Super Bowl Victory was not only sweet because it was won by the Redskins, but how it was won - down 0-10. Doug looking like he was severely injured. Then the blowout! The screenwriters couldn't have come up with a better script than that!
This isn't the 80's, it is 2012. Back then Doug was a "black quarterback." Because of Doug and others before and after him, today, RGIII is a quarterback who is black. Some in DC will be embracing him a little bit more than others (no problem with that), but the bottomline is, RGIII is being embraced because of his skill set and his character. Very few are making a big deal of his race, upfront, in any form of media.

I almost didn't start the thread and don't think it's that big a deal but I don't think it's irrelevant either. It will mean nothing to some at one end of the spectrum and a lot to others at the other end and everything in between. I think it's a useful discussion and shouldn't be avoided. It's not the elephant in the room it may have been at one point in the past.
This seemed like a safe place to talk about it.

Then again just like with Cam last year the subject will come up.
I remember a reporter asking Doug Williams: "how long have you been a black quarterback...?"
What a crock of crap question that was....!!!
Check your memory . . .
http://www.snopes.com/sports/football/williams.asp
I seen and heard it myself on ESPN........shows how credible THEY ARE..???
You are saying you heard the reporter ask that question? Or you heard Doug Williams repeat it? Because what apparently happened is that Williams misheard the question and repeated the wrong one back — essentially tainting that reporter's career in the process, by the way.
This is a story that has been debunked repeatedly over the years. We even had a thread on THN about it back in the day.
http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/200 ... tion-butchhttp://www.realredskins.com/rich-tandle ... asked.html
If that's the truth of the matter, then ESPN is to blame for fanning the FLAME of racial tension.
They know how influencial they are as a media....and to repeat and repeat and cut and edit the clip in such a fashion......tsk tsk
In such a case, yes I feel bad for that reporter.

I hesitated to start this thread but I think it's relevant.
I didn't do so to start a fire or fan any flames and for all I know it will die with few views and no replies.
You knew what you were jumping into when you started the thread.
If you look very carefully at the questions I raised - not once do I question whether or not you should bring up raise.
I said I have no issue with you doing your poll and saying that you think that a majority of DC would want RGIII and a majority in Indy would want want Luck. I even gace you a link to a study that would support their belief.
I asked you who is it "better" for and how is it "better" for RGIII to be in DC and how do you determine is it "more appropriate" for RGIII to be in DC. You gave me an answer and I said that it solved my puzzlement. You continued you to answer other questions so I rsponded to those answers.
You poll is about race - I get that and understand what you are trying to say.
Now I will PM you about the problem with what you are saying concerning the "better" and the "more appropriate".
After you read my PM, if you want to carrry continue, then I will not post again on the thread again, unless you or someone invites me too. With that give me a bit to get my PM together.

AGREE - it's V different - some may want to look at him as a black QB but not many real fans will
RG3 is a QB that has a great future in front of him
Doug was THE black QB that won a Super Bowl - he happened to be a Redskins QB
WHEN RG3 wins a Super Bowl - he'll be the 4th Redskins QB to win one - VERY FEW real fans will point to his skin color

I didn't think Doug Williams being black was a big deal at the time and I wasn't thinking about that with Griffin versus Luck. I think too many people are worried about it. Including ones who pat themselves on the back for their respect for
diversity...
Then again since I'm not a liberal I'm a racist, so what do I know about diversity.
Though funny story. Last night I went to the Wake County (Raleigh, NC area) awards, my daughter won the high school literature award. The theme this year was, "diversity."
She wrote it in 20 minutes at the last minute and threw in all the liberal buzz words she could think of. She talked about how she's half Korean, but there didn't seem to be a point to that. It got an "A" and her teacher submitted it to the county awards. It won and was submitted to the District. It won, and has been submitted to the State. She's supposed to hear shortly.
She can't really explain to me what it means.

Sorry about that. It was all I could do to hold it in all evening. The best way to get diversity is to focus on content, not "diversity." Then it just happens. That essay would have won zero in government schools. I teach my daughters to give the liberal government teachers what they want, but not to succumb. Her older sister is more militant about fighting with her government teacher's liberal indoctrination projects. Then again she's a Junior on the honor roll at Duke so it's working out. My daughter thinks the whole thing with her essay is pretty funny. Yes, we are the kaz clan...
