There have been many of us saying the same thing all along.

Guess what? We just outbid the Browns.

I'll save you some trouble. I said, repeatedly... if the Browns want RGIII, they will have him. Apparently, they did not want to part with the 22 pick... therefore, they did not want him as badly as the 'skins. I would stand by my statements. Had they been willing to part with both first round picks this year, their 2 this year, AND a first round pick NEXT year, that would have beat our offer, and they would have had him. They were not... and did not. Again, IF they wanted him, there would have been nothing we could do to stop them.

I disagreed then, and I still do. I said we could keep offering #1s until our offer beat the Browns'. But unlike some, I don't keep track of my Ws in these discussions. :P

Reports are that they tried to offer more at the last moment but the deal had already been done.

Yeah I noticed people are trying to conveniently overlook that fact.

Apparently the Rams disagreed with you.

Um, news flash: they dealt with us, not the Browns.

My bad - I misread your post the first time!

What's interesting in this story is that it sounds like the Browns did try to outbid us and just weren't aggressive enough. From ESPN today:

The Browns reportedly made a push for the second overall pick, going so far as to offer at least three No. 1 picks to the Rams and possibly even the second-round pick, one source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. In the end, the Browns were on the losing end like they've been so many times since rejoining the NFL in 1999.

You said 9 number ones or something like that. We were saying two number ones plus more. None of us who supported the trade blinked at 3. The third is two years out and we're giving up fewer post first round picks. Keeping track of it or not, I'm not seeing how that's a W in your category in any respect. And particularly since the Browns were apparently willing to give up three #1's as well.

Well done. I seem to be the only one though who remembers Trey countering Suck for Luck with his Whiff for Griff campaign early in the season. And he's apparently not willing to toot his own horn. So he gets credit too...

Now I can open my eyes.

Had been closing them and covering my ears whenever I heard guessing about whether the Redskins would trade up for RG3.

Exhale.

When is training camp?

(Can I be excused if the Nats win games?)

September 19... the "campaign" was tongue in cheek, in response to a certain over the edge series of threads... but, I was serious that Griffin was going to be a great candidate. At the time, I figured he'd be available at the Redskin's pick at, oh, 28 or 29...

Actually, I think I said 10 #1 picks. Are you really arguing that I wasn't using hyperbole to prove my point? And what the Browns came up with too late is beside the point. I said that they did not have an automatic lock on the deal just because they possessed two first rounders this year. I said I didn't believe that two #1s this year necessarily outweighed two #1s in consecutive years and you came back with your whole ex-post/ex-ante business.

Yeah, I think that was week 2 or so, and the Skins were undefeated. :hail:

Um...no....I'm arguing your hyperbole didn't win it for you over a trade that was pretty close to what we advocated. More post first round picks became a first rounder two years out and you declared victory. You won nothing.
