Two points:
1) I am a party involved in this friendly rivalry of wits, knowledge and luck. Thus, I abstain from selecting any one given option in particular. BUT I support the initiative to OPEN UP the whole thing to a larger number of posters in whatever fashion is decided.
2) Since, it is YOUR price to the winner, you get to choose how and who gets it. I suggest that Texas Hog, the staff and you put your heads together to decide a good approach and I will simply implement it in my accounting.
3) Delegation of responsibilities is important and I respect it enormously. Texas Hog is the staff member responsible for the creation of Hognostications. I am only the self-appointed accountant, motivator and sometimes
critic of the collective group of Hognosticators. So, I will stick to my accounting and cheerleading/
critic job. You guys decide this one any way you want to. The more competition the better.
Besides I have already not one but TWO prizes coming soon. One early next week with a STICKY and then a signature design for 200 posts.
For your information, if you drop only the top and low weeks with an attempt to bring a larger group of competitors with the SAME number weeks in the end, let me tell you what would happen based on the statistics available. Food for thought by your group:
a) If the total number of qualifying weeks is made to be
15 and those that participate in ALL weeks at the end drop the top and lowest weekly score, the following posters would qualify for the competition if all of them keep on participating:
1niksdeR, Chris Luva Luva, joebagadonuts, JSPB22, Redeemed, Redskin in Canada, and Texas Hog
Or
b) If the number of qualifying weeks is made to be lower, say
11, and those that participate in ALL weeks at the end drop the top 3 and lowest 3 weekly scores (corresponding numbers for others with greater than 11), the following -larger- number of posters could qualify for the competition if all of them keep on participating:
In addition to the above, you would have:
FanfromAnnapolis, Justice Hog, Punu, SkinsJock, and skinz74.
Or
c) If the number of qualifying weeks is made to be slighly lower, say
9 (still statistically meaningful), and those that participate in ALL weeks at the end drop the top 4 and lowest 4 weekly scores (corresponding numbers for others), the following yet -larger- number of posters could qualify for the competition if all of them keep on participating:
AZHog, Fios, hkhog and
Tazlah. (a very tough group)
Conclusions.
The message is that the lower the number of qualifying weeks is set to be, the -larger- the number of Hognosticators that could qualify grows.
Just

. After all, I am only the accountant.
