Why do you say that?

The Falcons rubbed Carolina's nose in it twice last year. Carolina circled this Falcon game on their schedule. Cam Newton was not on that team that got drubbed twice. Carolina outplayed Atlanta at the line of scrimmage. Cam Newton was not ready to win the way the rest of thhe team was. He was more concerned about his dancing than winning. I watched all three games I'm addressing. That is why I said that.

The 'Skins might lose but I do not think they will. Something I left out of the "most likely outcome" statline: 2 picks.

No, I am a square..

Now C'MON MAN did I feed you exactly what you wanted to hear? Some back and forth?

Fig Newton gets the berries hit out of him and leaves game w concussion in the beginning of the third (insert devil smiley here)

I am already ahead of you. If you want to start the thread go ahead but I was going to open up a game day thread, just let me know where you post it.

Enough of the formals.

I know all of you say that John Beck is mobile and he has decent speed of 4.75 in 40 but Greg Hardy is a 4.82 in the 40 and Charles Johnson is 4.84 so they are fast enough to flush Beck out of the pocket so good luck with him scrambling around all day.

As for Cam Newton he runs the 40 in 4.52 and your boys Orakpo runs 4.63 and Kerrigan 4.67. The difference between Newton and Beck is #1 is more agile. Plus Newton has the awareness to see the blitz coming if he is out in space and he can avoid the sack like he has in every game just when a defender grabs his jersey he squirts out of the pocket for huge gains.

Like you said, Beck is unknown. Does he have that ability? Idk, but like I stated before he attempted 9 runs for 12 yards and he was a rookie so I am lead to believe that he isn't as quick as he was as a rookie. Plus the Panthers are game planning against a mobile quarterback. I am guessing he might get a few runs off but to think he will scramble to extend plays all day, I don't think so.

Plus the head coach activated another linebacker at the weakside to assist in the run by the name of Jason Phillips who runs a 4.60 so I expect him to hit the gaps and cut off Tim Hightower who runs a 4.56. Not a big difference so good luck with that.

That's it for now until you open the game day thread unless you have more to add.

mrcatwalker wrote:Well that's what fans do is talk smack. I come here to talk smack because being on a Carolina message board you don't have a lot of opposing teams fans post comments so I decided to something this week. I tried it before on the New Orleans message board but it wasn't as interesting. You should be happy to have a fan from another team come on here so you can go back and forth instead of talking the same i hope stuff.

...

Maybe I shouldn't lashed out like that, but I am like most people. Most people don't take people going after their person especially when they are having fun. I was having fun, talking a little trash about the teams, I never came at anyone on here personally. So for future references, it's not cool to bash someone for having an opinion. After the game, you won't have to worry about me until the next time the 2 teams meet up.

not really my place to point out some rules here

we don't mind talking some trash talk but while your posts are fine with me - the original poster is treading a fine line here

that Panthers' site must be a lot of fun for you 2 - all the best with that

we'll see you on the game day thread - oh! - AND, bring your buddy

I have no problems with an opposing team's fan coming on here and ribbing us here and there. But a Carolina Panthers fan saying that Newton is going to "destroy" our D is flat out ridiculous.

sorry mate but maybe you and the guys giving you all these "speed" stats need to understand 1 LITTLE thing

this is not a track meet - this is an NFL game and these guys are not going to be running away from each other

about Beck - we'll see how much scrambling Beck does - I do NOT think he'll be getting many run plays called with his name

we do NOT need Beck to be anything - we just need him to NOT turn the ball over - THAT's HUGE for us

this is NOT about Beck - this is going to be about our defense keeping the score down and the TOP in our favor

good luck with that

btw - who is going to "back up" the "Newton is going to destroy the Redskins defense" statement?

that is what this thread is all about

mrcatwalker wrote:-snip-The Panthers had the toughest schedule and in fact playing the Redskins is sort of a break from the 4 games they played against all play off teams.-snip-

There is some truth here.

Sep 11 @Arizona Lost 21-28 C. Newton (422) B. Wells (90) S. Smith (178)

Sep 18 Green Bay Lost 23-30 C. Newton (432) J. Starks (85) S. Smith (156)

Sep 25 Jacksonville Won 16-10 C. Newton (158) M. Jones-Drew (122) G. Olsen (57)

Oct 2 @Chicago Lost 29-34 C. Newton (374) M. Forte (205) S. Smith (181)

Oct 9 New Orleans Lost 27-30 D. Brees (359) D. Williams (115) J. Graham (129)

Oct 16 @Atlanta Lost 17-31 C. Newton (237) M. Turner (139)

That's a tough schedule and Newton was the leading passer in every one (vs Rodgers, Cutler, and Ryan no less) except the Saints game.

He also threw some key picks and has a lot of maturing to do. If our D comes to play and if Beck doesn't catch Rex-itis .... we'll be OK.

PS - note rushing yards against Carolina.

I have no problem with Newton throwing the ball - that has not been helpful to the Panthers

we will NOT be destroyed - I'm just waiting for someone to "defend" that assertion

Not going to read this, but you were right Cam destroyed our D!

That was by far the worst game our D has played this year and our D hasn't been near as good as their stats would say they have.
