I disagree. Negativity feeds on itself, and becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. This team can win the SB if you believe hard enough. 8)

Believing you can win is only as good as that - when you honestly believe you can make up for a lack of skill or talent by trying harder to be successful - there is no limit to what you can do

I think this team has lacked that desire to be better and to make others around them better for some time now - all teams believe they can be winners, some practice and play like it, most just get by on sheer talent and have no drive to be a lot better because they are already the best, in their mind
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I disagree that this is a "bad" team. I believe this is a team that has most of the elements to be very good, and certainly in the top third of the NFL.

What I see happening is a top tier defense ... with an offense that cannot get the ball to it's play makers, aside from a handoff. I see a lot of talent being wasted on offense, and utter denial about the cause of it.

The Redskins have a fine running game, an excellent TE, a deep threat wide out, and a couple of promising possession receivers. They have a defense capable of keeping them competitive with just about any team. So the elements for success are there.

Of course, every team has weaknesses, and every team has areas that could be upgraded. But there are a couple of key positions on the field that MUST be filled with good players, otherwise no amount of talent can compensate for it.

On offense, the QB is the most critical position, and if you want to be a a good team, that QB has to be at least "good" ... not fair ... not mediocre ... but good, preferably great, but good is a minimum requirement.

The Redskins do not have the minimum requirement met at that critical position, and haven't since the early 1990's. And until the Redskins get a "good" QB, they'll continue to struggle and disappoint.

You are a serious poster, brother. No wishes upon stars, please. Is this the medicine you prescribe to fix the pessimism prevailing among an increasing number of fans?

Please ...
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

You've been watching too much Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood. This is on par with "You can be anything you want to be if you just try hard enough" and other lies your parents told you. At some time, talent and preparation play into the equation...not just you supplying positive energy.

Now, I'm not a Dooms Day-er....I think the team has potential. I am just floored by the fact I watched that entire game and I have nothing to hang my hat on and say "Yeah, they are dramatically improved at that". Nothing. I thought going into the game that:

- JC has matured and could read defenses
- The offense would look more fluid
- The defense would get pressure on the QB
- We would be competitive

None of these things occurred. THis game was a 6 point game on the scoresheet only and the Skins never seriously threatened them. Now, I watched several other games and there were many teams that showed me dramatic improvement. For instance:

- The Raiders defense played great. They got pressure on the QB constantly and mainly from their acquisition Richard Seymour...this is how I thought Fat Albert would play.

- The Ravens offense matured and Flacco looked more poised and had a better understanding of the offense then last year.

- The Eagles brought pressure (as they always do), but I was surprised at the level of intensity and how they had not lost a step with a new Defensive Coordinator

- The Giants young (unheralded) receivers were effective.

What can you say about the Skins where they were better than you expected? I can't think of one thing. This isn't Henny Penny the sky is falling....this is an honest appraisal of my favorite team that I have attended just about every home game for the past 12 years as well as several road game and playoff games.

OK - just take a breath for a second - most of what you posted is correct - but most here realized we might have a lot of issues on the offensive side - while some pointed to the fact that we could only 'add' some players because the fact was there were not a lot of offensive guys both in the draft and in FA available - these same optimists said wait and see - Dockery will be fantastic here despite what we saw last year in Buffalo AND Campbell is going to be so motivated to show everybody that he's a great QB and he will finally be 'comfortable' because he's in an offense that he knows now  PLUS Jim Zorn is going to open everything up and we will score a bunch of points this year - IT AINT HAPPENING

The defense is for real - wait and see - the offense is not as bad as we saw .... BUT - we are not going to be anything more than 8-8 or maybe 9-7 because the team is not put together by anybody that knows what they are doing

we are and always have been (well for the last 10 years) MEDIOCRE - that doesn't mean you cannot hope for better things but this group of talented players and coaches were not assembled to work together - they are mean't to succeed just because they have talent - we need proper management

I'm thinking the next few weeks will have a whole bunch of fans here thinking that things are better here but reality is right around the corner when this group has to finsih the season out against a bunch of teams that are assembled to be competitive and to make their teammates better through playing better together.
We do not have that here on the offensive side of the ball if you ask me - maybe we can make this adjustment next year - but then maybe it will be a whole new approach

the saving grace this year, I believe, will be our defense

hopefully some of the offensive guys will show that they can be a viable part of a scoring offense given the right additions - wait until next year
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

 OK! - I think we'll all feel a lot better in the coming month but November and December are going to really test that faith of yours - success through the last 7 games is going to take a minor miracle

Tony Robbins doesn't reach that level either.
