I think you can miss 2-3 weeks (maybe 4) and still have a legitimate and telling %

But I'd be willing to have stricter rules if someone wants it.

Sounds good to me. But "El Redimido" might be a little intransigent on this though. He wants to play in a league of his own only with Texas Hog.

Any other views?

TH and I seem to use the same method: pick & don't change them. Everyone else edits their picks at least once after turning them in.

I respect your stellar performance, RiC, and admire the work you put into tracking the standings (), but I do think that TH and I are on even playing ground, that's all.

By all means, feel free to include my picks in the overall standings, but, in terms of gauging my performance, I will monitor my picks vs. the new daddy's. So far, he's kickin'my behind.

So I assume you've checked everyone's picks for every week and found that everyone, every time, edits them "at least once" before kickoff on Sunday?

Please. . .I think I've almost always made my picks and simply stuck with them. It's not juevos or whatever it is you're making it out to be, and I'm sure I'm not the only one (besides you, Texas Hog, or whoever) to do so. I guess I don't really understand what you're getting at.

(In fact, I've probably gone back and edited the texts of my posts more than I've edited for picks. As far as I can remember I've never changed an actual pick.)

(__ - __)

No think of the (__ as the left cheek, and the __) as the rght and then ask yourself what the - would represent.

In any case, we had discussed the possibility of making the Hognostications a board-wide competition, but we were unable to do so because of all of the extra work it would create, so thanks for taking the time RiC. You're doind an excellent job so far.

Much better than that TRO guy.

 My bad. Bad choice of words.

I meant "several" or "others" choose to edit their picks. I stand corrected.

However, I still will measure my picks vs. TH's.

BTW, aren't you, FFA, being a little generous with the "56%" rating? My calculations may be wrong, but, your .558 is just a smidge of the legit .560 that "The Redeeemed One" is posting. Let's stay honest now. :nana:

In fact, if "El Redimido" would have actually bothered to go over the long consolidated Hognostications thread from Weeks 1 to 8, he would have found out that it is only one or two posters that have changed them at all and even them, not often. CLL and others post late in the week but that has proven in practice NOT to give any advantage to anybody really. The vast majority voted that it would be alright to play by the rules applied in Vegas.

Only one poster has changed a single pick the same day of a game, prior to the game over the entire season to date. No big deal at all.

I have been poking fun at Redeemed and his scores but not with the intention to bother him seriously really. But these things can turn to be competitive very quickly. I do not feel that his are serious excuses or whinning because this is a simple voluntary just-for-fun game. It is half a guessing game and half what we really know about the NFL that particular week.

I will keep on scores for all. To each his/her own as to how he/she wants to handle them. As for myself, I am proud to be in the girly-men division.

Franz: Ya. Ya, girly-man. Hear me now and believe me later - but don't think about it ever, because, if you try to think, you might cause a flabulance!

Hans: Ya!

Nothing gives me more pleasure than to demonstrate to all that common fans, such as ourselves, can post predictions that, with a few games better or worse, are not too far off from the numbers produced by "professional" sports writers that are dedicated to watch, study and write about NFL football full-time.

56.03 % Redeemed
55.88 % FanfromAnnapolis

Redeemed, I have the suspicion that you will regret having issued this challenge to FFA. My 2 cents

The group of guys with 7 weeks are already near your total number of correct predictions over 8 weeks. But since you are in a league of your own, I guess it does not matter. Or does it from your statement above? :hmm:

Having said so, no insults or derogatory statements against him will be tolerated by the moderators at any point. But maybe just a "I told you so" might be in order.

There are a lot of road victories coming this week, but the E-gals won't be one of them. They don't run the ball, and Owens is going to be out, and McNugget is hurt. Here's the way it will play out on Sunday:

Tennessee
Kansas City
Atlanta
Detroit
San Diego
Tampa Bay
Jacksonville
Cincinnati
Chicago
Seattle
New York G-spots - Can SF make it two in a row? I'll take the missed pick for that!
Pittsburgh
Washington
New England

And for the record, Redeemed, I changed a single pick once all season, when I found out that Vick was not going for the Falcons, and I'm glad I did. I wound up salvaging what was already my worst week by far. So, until you catch me, and the others who have picked every week, you can remain in your own division, and if you are careful, you may even win it.

No, see. . .this makes you less of a man (or woman--we're trying not to be sexist here). So, you know, take your pick. But you're going to be less of something for this.
