tsk tsk. all retired.

I think I would take Art Monk right now. Give a little time to get back into shape...

Oh, and some strong play by enraged DB's and LB's. Since that "spike the ball" incident, I have wondered how long before some fast-moving LB-sized guy knocks him out.

S Taylor? A Pierce?

It doesn't matter to me I'd take all those recievers in there prime over Owens any day

they atleast were able to help get over the hurdle Owens hasn't been able to jump lately

My point was, he isn't "overrated". His ratings suit his ability just fine.
I would never, ever take him over Monk.
Or Rice (who isn't retired yet, Hellhog !!).

If you think he is not overated because of his numbers fine

To me he is overated his numbers don't support **** in my book he still has no ring to show what he has done

That's a moronic argument. If Jerry Rice never won a ring, you'd consider him "Overrated".

Does your theory imply that David Givens his of a higher rating than Terrell OWens?

Gee that's some rating system.

There are 52 players on an NFL team. It's much more so a team game than Baseball or Basketball.

Get a clue.

There have been so many greats who've never won a championship. Wonker is right.
I think it's silly to call him "overrated".
That's all. He's not getting my vote for "Citizen Of The Year" or anything. I just think he's as good as his numbers indicate, and I think the perception of those who feel he is "overrated" would change dramatically, were TO playing on their chosen team.
That's all.
Personally, I've seen gas stations with more charm than he has. That doesn't matter. He's very good at what he does for a living.
Love him, hate him...he doesn't care. He's his own man, and (to repeat an earlier thought) he doesn't define himself by what you think of him.
Oh, well !

barry never won a championship did he? most wouldn't consider barry sanders overrated now would they? or marino.... was he overrated? or even bruce smith, as much as it pains me to say it. he never won one in buffalo, but i don't think anyone would dare say he was overrated at that point in his career.(the last few years don't count, he was simply reaching at that point).

what I am implying is that ratings and numbers mean jack with out that ring

every player that never won a ring would give up atleast half there numbers just to win a ring

believe me if there is anything in this world players would kill for is 1 chance at being a champion

don't deny it either because if you were to ask Owens or any player that never won 1

they'll all tell you the same story

ever stop and think why Owens went to Philly in the first place?

to win a ring

I think I have made my point clear there will be a quiz on the material you learned Monday

Texas Cowboy,

I have no idea what your point is.

Is it:

Players consider rings to be important?
Gee, that's a tough point to make.

Is your point:
The goal of the NFL is to win a Super Bowl?
Yup, another very provoking point.

But WE all thought you were talking about players being over-rated. And if so, then your point is completely useless when you factor in whether the player has a Super Bowl ring" to their inherent value.

Go teach class at the Cowboys board, with all the dummies there.

My point is they are overated any player can put up numbers

but how bout being good enough to get rings to show for what they have done?

winning a ring is a part of there inherent value

dummies like you coddle the players who don't have a ring and place them ahead of players
who do

it's just as Emmitt Smith said in this statement

"To me," Smith said, "this is about the difference between a champion and someone who is just satisfied with whatever they are doing, someone not motivated to fulfill his potential, someone limited in his thinking."

Ted Williams, Barry Sanders, Jim Thorpe, Fran Tarkenton, JR Richard, Bo Jackson, Pete Maravich (sp).

All over-rated.

Yeah.

Most overrated player in the NFL: Michael Vick.....

I used to say that, but I think I'd re-word it now that I think about it.

I'd say Mike is the most hyped, which can lead to being overrated. Mike does have amazing abilities, and look at his teams record. He's doing great, and he's playing a more pocket QB role which I wasn't sure if he could do. He proved me wrong.

He's off of my overrated list.

i agree. i promise you without vick their record would be terrible. great... i don't know, overrated, NO. he single handedly makes that team better. look at last year if you need proof. maybe overhyped, but by no means overrated.

one more comment on vick then i'll shut up. would you not like to have him as the skins qb right now? :-k

Whatever.
You can't possibly rate an individual (or his career) based on his hardware.
It's crap.
It's a team sport.
