If you seen it SO many times, name 3 more????? How many games have you seen him in?????? Was it in Seattle, Teaxas or with the Yanks?????? If it was SO many times you gotta at least be able to name 3????? MLB would never label him as 1 of the best players ever if he was "dirty". You and SSIII are the only 2 to keep saying that with nothing to prove it. All it can be is your opinion, because it's BS. Or let me guess, you didn't write the times & dates down so you don't remember, right??? I would defend him if he was a Yankee or not. Guys like him DEFINE baseball. What's your opinion of Pedro?????? How many guys did he hit intentionally in his career?????

I never have been a huge fan of Alex Rodriguez.
Truthfully, I was happy with that idiot Boone at third. I was happy with Rockin' Robin, for that matter.
Still, he's a Yankee now. I took the same approach when we signed Deion Sanders, based on SFIR's recommendation. :)
Anyway, I think the "dirty" label in unfair. I'd like to see some more proof before you start throwing that live grenade around.
NikiH, you're suprising me a little. For a non-fan of either team, you're showing a whole lot of passion.

I asked twice for "proof" and got nothing! That's how you know it's a lie (or an "opinion"), it never happened!

The funny thing is, he got called out! So who cares!

NikiH, do you think when he was at-bat he said "when the PITCHER is making the play at 1ST I'm going to try to slap it out of his hand?" or what if A-Rod ran in to him with a forearm or a shoulder?????? The play would have been legal, he would've been safe & it would've been considered great play if he knocked it out like that!

Think about it, it takes like 3-4 seconds to get there, he didn't have enough time to "choose" to do anything. It was a "reaction"......nothing more then a "reaction"!!!!!!!

You are something else.

I believe blowing a 3-0 lead in the ALCS is "choking". That's how I would define the word anyway. If you have a different definition, fine. Just keep me out of your *sh$t* storms.

As for Alex Rodriguez, I thought the play was more metrosexual and stupid than dirty.

On a side note, I think we can all agree that Ty Cobb was one of the best ever, and was definetly a dirty player...

Never saw the man play. 'bout fifty years before my birth, I think.
I'm fine with the phrase "choke", so long as it fires the boys up and gives them something to play for next year.
Not being affected by what happened this season would be the biggest choke of all.

Ant you need to calm down a wee bit. I was not refering to ARod with that comment. I was refering to all the teams in the post season play. I saw it last night in the world series. Cabrerra tried to block with his body, he missed but he tried. TC I show passion for this issue because my child is a huge sports fan, he is watching these games. I cannot explain to a 3 year old why it is ok to break rules. These things, not only done by Arod, are changing my opinion of baseball all together.

O really, doesn't seem like that to me? I'm calm, but still waiting for you to name another "dirty" play by A-Rod?????

FOR THE LAST TIME. I was not just talking about A Rod. I was talking about everyone in the post season. I'm most disappointed about A Rod because he has been made an icon to little boys like my son. I have an issue with that, and whether you like it or not Ant I have every right to. I think he is a dirty player based on that one play. That is all the proof I need. I am not going to fight with you about this. I thought you were a calm level headed adult, obviously I was mistaken. TC and I don't agree but you don't see him jumping on me because my personal opinion doesn't match his, do you? I didn't follow the Yankees prior to the post season. I was and am not a Yankees/Red Sox fan. I am an Orioles fan. And I don't watch every game, just every once in a while.

You really need to take a step back here Ant. Because to me this seems like you are personally picking a fight. And I'm not sure that is your intention. I know it sucks when your team loses, been there, done that. But you need to get over that and stop thinking everyone is against the Yankees and out to get A Rod. I can hate A Rod, what does that matter to you? He's a highly paid player that I expected to have high morals. He didn't live up to my expectations. End of story.

Haven't you been paying attention? What you call "opinions" Ant calls "lies".

Honestly Niki, how dare you have an opinion different from others?

Ant knows the difference between "lies" and "opinions", SOS.
There've been some pretty contradictory statements made here by Jackson's Mom. Me ? Couldn't care less, really. Things happen.
Like I said, I'm no huge fan of "A-Rod". I agreed with both calls that were reversed in the game.
Still, he's not what you'd call a "dirty player". Those are strong words.

Now you explained yourself a little better, you did say earlier (not word for word)-that you seen it happen more than once, that's what I was talking about, if you want to base it on that 1 play, I agree you're entitled to your own opinion. I was never jumping on you & I wasn't the one who brought up A-Rod, but if I disagree with a comment I'm gonna defend him. I don't understand why asking you to explain something is jumping at you.

SSIII, if you think we "choked" it's a LIE (you call it your opinion), if you want to keep lying or making stuff up, go ahead! The only 2 things that I said were lies were you THINKING the Yankees "choked" & A-Rod being a "dirty" player! I still know those were lies & anyone who knows anything about baseball agrees with me. I've never heard ANYONE else say either of those two ridiculous things. Ive been watching ESPN all week and NOBODY has said anything like that! Stop putting word in my mouth and/or trying to explain what I meant!

No, most are calling it a "desperation play".
Whatever. It still doesn't make "A-Rod" a "dirty player". Schilling said it was "Junior High baseball at its best".
Everybody, it seems, feels one way or another about it.
To me, "dirty" is Romo. "Dirty" is Tatum. "Dirty" is Fisk.
Ooooh. Did I just step in it here ? In a Boston discussion ?
Too bad. Munson is my favorite Yankee. To me, Fisk is "dirty". Is that an opinion, or a lie ? I don't know.
Don't much care, either.
Such is passion about a team, about a sport.
Things are said and done that ordinarily wouldn't be.

Me too, it's all for fun, but remember we're on the same side (this season), LOL. We'll go at it next season again! Please don't ever take what I say as being "nasty" or anything else. It's not! I hate typing and I type what I want as fast (or blunt) as possible. I'm sure it sounds bad sometimes, but really it never is!

Your typing sounds bad, Ant ?
What's that, like "click-click-click-CLACK" ?
Don't worry, man. George and Cash will get us some help.
I'd like to see the following guys gone.
Brownie
Lofton
Lee
Wilson
Gordon
Heredia
El Duque (He's done, man.)

Anybody I missed ?

It seems the harder I press these keys, the more everyone thinks I have an attitude, LOL! You always got my back TC!

I still like Gordon & after we get Beltran we won't have room for Lofton. El Duque we don't really need, but in an emergency (like this year), you never know with him. I'd keep him, not as a starter, but just incase! Everyone else has to go! How long is Brown under contract?????

plain as day. thanks to the boston globe for this one.

Listen, let's end this! I'm not doubt your knowledge of the game, all I'm saying is no one can say A-Rod is a "dirty" player. If he did do it, he's not the only player that has. When you're in the heat of the moment, things happen. Their's alot more "dirty" stuff going on in MLB than this. You don't plan things on a 3 second run to 1st (or 2nd) base. I would put hitting a batter with a pitch or sticking needles in your butt (steroids) "dirty" things, that's really it.

agreed. consider it ended. perhaps i expressed myself incorrectly. i consider those plays (raising his arm) dirty plays, and i wasn't happy about them. however, without additional information, i can't say that arod is a dirty player. those may be two small plays in an otherwise sparkling clean resume. i apologize, that was wrong of me to imply such. for the record, i don't think that the 'slap' was dirty, but just a reaction from a competitive player. that being said, i still don't like him, and i'm happy he plays for you guys.

as an aside, arod would have been much better off simply stopping in his tracks and making arroyo chase him or go to the bag. jeter may have even made it to third.

by the way, you did indeed question my knowledge of the game when you said 'you are clueless'.....unless i took that the wrong way. no harm, however, i understand that sometimes we speak with emotion, and that leads to exaggeration.

I think he would've been better off sliding, if he just fell and kicked his leg out to the base, he might have made it. I think Jeter scored from that, but on the regular play, he probably would've made it to 3rd. I do think the Umps should've let him go to 2nd, it was a grounder & they weren't trying to get him out, but I guess with what A-Rod did Jeter suffered, kinda like they killed the whole at bat!

When I made the comment about your knowledge, it was because you were saying he was "dirty", it was definitly a "dirty" play like you explained. Anyone calling A-Rod out like that can't know to much about baseball, but now your explained yourself alot better, LOL! He didn't have a great year, but the 2nd half was alot better. Nothing against Mueller he's doing great, but he's not A-Rod........neither was Boone! Next year he'll be back to his normal self. It sucks, everyone that comes to NY, drops their stats the 1st year, I guess the pressure is to hard to get used to. I compared him to the wrong guy, if A-Rod went to Boston, Cabrera wouldn't be there. Any team can use A-Rod (my opinion), man I was hoping they put him in to pitch game 7! LOL

actually, manny was going to be a part of the arod trade, and i don't think the sox would have made it as far as they have without him.

You're right! I was talking about defense, but I forgot that Manny would've been gone. If Manny was on my team, I wouldn't trade him for ANYTHING, but A-Rod for Soriano, who wouldn't???? I think their will be a big improvement from A- Rod next season, switching positions I think had alot to do with his lack of offense, again the pressure, we'll see next year. If he was on the Sox he may have done alot better, we have our own "jinx" with getting new players, it ALWAYS takes time to adjust (Giambi so far a waste), Sheffield dropped some...etc. Anyway the Sox are OBVIOUSLY fine with out him!
