In a 16 game schedule breaking 1000 yards is not really a great feat anymore. His last good season was 2000 (4 years ago). 14th and 15th in a league of 32 teams is middle of the road, and if you take away teams that had RBs injured or take a RB-by-committee approach, it is the bottom of the barrel.

I agree with DCF. George is not completely washed up. Part of it had to do with the Titans focusing more on the pass (perhaps due to EG's inefficiency), and we remember what that can do to a punishing runner (see: Davis, Stephen).

I welcome the EG signing in Dallas, contrary to what I said before. If he can "resurrect" his career (though all the "experts" seem to say it is going to be difficult), he can be a productive back....

....that is until Sean Taylor knocks him out in the first Skins-Dallas game this year.

I heard this morning that the contract they're working on with Dallas is for pretty much the same money the Titans were offering. Makes you wonder if George was just ready to go, in his own heart.

I wonder how the Titans are gonna fare, though.

Wow I cannt believe this coming out of the muth of a DEADSKIN FAN. A team who has dead money this year for a certain big ass D-tackle. Not from a fan of a team that constantly gives big money to old and declining players. Not from the team that signed Jeff George, Bruce Smith, Deion Sanders, Mark Carrier, Jessie Armstead, Jermiah Trotter, Stubblefield, Wilkenson, and now 1 pro-bowl Springs, Old man Brunell for HUGE MONEY, 34 year old Barrow, and declining Hamilton and Phillips.

I agree whole-heartedly that we should have never signed Jeff George, Deion Sanders, or Bruce Smith. They took up valuable cap space and roster spots from players who might have contributed. Thanks for making my point. BTW, Deadskins is the name of my Fantasy Football team, so yes I am a Deadskin fan. What's your point, Cowpie lover?

The point is that you are the pot calling the kettle black......when you darker then night........But i do admire the fact that you did not rush to defend those signings you were a realist about the mistakes....That is respectable

Even if he goes to Dallas, he can't be compared to the likes of Clinton Portis. Several years back, it would be a fair comparison but not anymore.

George will probably get 900 or less this season. I smell an Emmitt Smith situation looming... :fart:

Oh, and if you call who we sign "aging veterans", the what do you call Keyshawn Johnson and Vinny Testeverde?

Don't forget Marcellus Wiley & Dedric Ward, they're not getting younger!

Jake, we just about covered Dallas' whole off-season of Free-agency moves....ya know???? All 4 of them, oh they re-signed Whalen too!

Not at all. I'm saying that I thought we made a mistake with those three signings, and I am hoping the Pies make the same mistake with Eddie George. I will defend some of the other signings you mentioned, particularly Armstead, because they were still great players who had good years left. There's a difference.

Ummm Dedric Ward didnt get big money and a long term contract......he got vet min......that is good and he is good for a 4th reciever. Vinny probally is in the same shape as Brunell, but he got a one year deal to push Carter, teach Drew on the Sidelines and be a back up.

Also Wiley is a beast, he had no talent at San Diego and got tripled teamed alot. He will not be getting tripled team in Dallas with Glover and Ellis on the line......

I am sorry that we dont make a BIG SPLASH and spend like crazy to buy a championship like Synder.

I'm sorry Ant7088 what kinda of tape would u like for the side of your neck, you have some foolish words leaking from there.

Obviously you are just listening to the media about his 3.3 yard average last year. If you go look at his stats, his best year was a 4.1 yard average and a 3.7 overall. Also the last few years has been a switch from running as much to more passing by McNair. He has had some injuries, but if he can still be an insurance policy or a RB By Committee for us, you have to agree George is a very servicable back!

Oh a few more stats, 15th best in rushing yards last year and the 14th best in rushing yards in 2002!

I call B.S. His 3.3 yards per carry is not based on a switch to more passing. He's never had a season with less than 300 carries. His best season, as far as yards per carry, he had the second lowest number of carries for him in a season. That would be 1999, 320 carries and 4.1 ypc for 1304 yards.

Since then there has been a noticeable dropoff in his production. 3.7 yardss a carry, then 3, 3.4, and 3.3 You can look at the yards all you want, but if you think less than 4 yards a carry is acceptable you're lying to yourself.

I didn't say anything about money, did I???? Wiley is a beast, but he'll never be better then he was in the past and he's eventually (soon) gonna decline. Vinny will be more help to Henson than he will be to Carter, nobody couldn't help QC.

Please don't appologize to me because Dallas didn't spend much money.

Last year your D was great & Wiley doesn't make them worse. Your offense was good enough to get you to the playoffs, but obviously they showed there true colors when they lost in the 1st round.

So my ? is, in that same playoff game last year against Carolina, if you were able to add the players Dallas got (and lost) this year (even the drafted & traded guys), do you think you would've won the game???

So I guess John Riggins in the last five years of his career was not acceptable?

Antowain Smith last year won a SuperBowl with only a 3.5 YPA.
Marshall Faulk last year had a 3.9 YPA.
Ricky Williams last year had a 3.5 YPA.
Pretty big name guys that are unacceptable in your book!

I guess we will just have to wait and see, but don't think your precious Portis will keep his 5.5 YPA next year....

Yes /no/ maybeso but the important fact in all this is that we were 10-6 went to the playoffs and beat the snot outta the skins.

i guess you didn't watch the pats last year...smith, not a big part of their offense
Marshall Faulk last year had a 3.9 YPA.

yeah, and he was hurt most of last year and not a good year for him at all.
Ricky Williams last year had a 3.5 YPA.

yep...certainly an off year by williams standards...and of course the phins missed the playoffs

so what's your point? those guys had off years so it's suddenly ok to not have a good average per carry? did any of those guys make the probowl last year?

And that's about the best you will do next year! You have basically the same team AND your recievers are now slower than last year thanks to Meshawn Johnson.
