Awesome...i thought I'd be the only one.... I grew up on that stuff... along with Billy Joel, Air Supply, Chicago, The Beach Boys and every "Oldie but Goodie" in the book....
But I listen to everything else now.... as long as it's good....

Im on the top of the world looking down on creation and the only explanation I can find.....is the love that I've found, ever since you've been around that has put me on the top of the world!

I love it... when's it hitting the store's so i can run out and get it?

Nope I listed Alan Jackson. He's country!
I like quite a bit of country, it's just not my favorite. I for some reason don't care for most of the female country artists however. I do not know why.

I like Journey, 80's glam rock, and 80's heavy metal. I like bands such as Motley Crue, Ratt, Dokken, etc.. I like Ozzy, Judas Priest, Dio, Metallica, etc.. For my pop side, I like Huey Lewis and the News, Duran Duran, Phil Collins and the Police. Hell, thats a wide range. I guess I dig all 80's music, but mostly metal. Huey Lewis and the News had a brutal mosh pit in 1987.
When they played "I want a new drug", the violence that broke out was sheer chaos.

Wow Brandon you shocked me. How old are you? I remember all those groups. I was a major groupie (not in the dirty sense of the word) during the 80's heavy metal era. Late 80's that is. I actually was back stage at a Skid Row concert when I was 15. It totally rocked.

I'm 31. I use to go to concerts all the time. I use to have really long hair, play in bands and date groupies. I still play guitar and bass, but with short hair now.NikiH wrote:Wow Brandon you shocked me. How old are you? I remember all those groups. Wow I'm impressed, I thought there would be more country and rap but I was wrong. So far. I like most of the bands that were mentioned but I must admit some of them I've never heard of. Like most of the one's Jake listed. Anyway there is one band I forgot to mention and that is Little Feat, with Lowell George and without. They are one of my alltime favorites and to have forgotten to list them...well no more airplane glue.

Little Feat was sooooo big when I was in college - Dixie Chicken blasting from every dorm room on Friday Night. Guess that gives my age away. I remember when I was in DC and found out LG died (actually died in DC) sad day.
Airplane glue - How about Jefferson Airplane - not Starship.

I grew up on John Denver, Jim Croce and CS &N, and segued into AC/DC, Sabbath, Floyd. Never liked the 80's, with the Big Hair and the eternally stupid "99 Luftballons", nor do I get reflective when I hear it on some moldy oldies station.
I do return to my roots from time to time. The only guitar I have left is a flat-top Washburn semi with a cooked pickup. That's okay, because the little gorilla amp is long gone and a puppy chewed up my bag of jacks a long time ago anyway.
Still, I love that I'm the only one I know who can play the opening to "Rocky Mountain High", or even cares to.
Who does that anymore ? Betcha I could book jobs at Nursing Homes with that repertoire, huh ?
Oh, and I know plenty of Alan Jackson, and almost the entire Hank Sr. catalog.
It's hard to pick favorites. It's all about moods.

"99 Luftballoons" is a terrible song. I put it up there with "Harper Valley PTA", "Riki don't lose that number", and that song by Canned Heat(I don't know the name of it), as far as a magnitude of suckiness.tcwest10 wrote:I grew up on John Denver, Jim Croce and CS &N, and segued into AC/DC, Sabbath, Floyd. Blind Owl Wilson - helluva harmonica player - and have to say I love that song and a lot of Canned Heat stuff. Didn't like the "Big Hair" 80's but loved the under the surface stuff - guess that's from coming out of the Punk 70's.
