He has a real talent with his speed and and maybe even more impressive his ability to track and catch a deep ball so the Skins endure his effrontery but Jackson certainly draws on his goodwill account every year with this nonsense.

Man, I'm dying for some news. Something, anything. This is the worst part of the offseason.

There won't be anything except the usual media recycling the usual fodder for the next 42 days unless Kirk Cousins signs a contract.

"The offense is way ahead of the game. Way, way ahead of the game," Redskins defensive lineman Ricky Jean François said.

After a very competitive June minicamp session, Francois would know. For two days, the Redskins starting offense and defense squared off in drills that left both sides claiming supremacy, not to mention a lot of on-field yelling.

“I understand last year we were trying to figure out where we’re going, we had the QB situation and that nonsense, but this offseason, Kirk has a chance to be the starting QB with his receivers doing the offense,” François said. “You can see it’s working out. The offensive line is clicking. Most teams would be clicking in [training] camp, but they’re doing it now.”

Sounds good and you would hope this is true.

Just wondering: When was the last time this team went into training camp with this kind of stability? Just won the division. No coaching changes. Same offense. Same QB.

Not a rhetorical question at all. Anybody have any idea? I'd be curious to know.

Before 2013? 1999.

I'd say we had stability with Joe Gibbs 2.0. Not quite as stable as now and with much worse personnel management, but close to this level of stability.

If your holding to the won the division part, I'd say Gibbs 1.

Jamison Crowder - WR - Redskins

ESPN's John Keim reports second-year slot receiver Jamison Crowder has "left folks at Redskins Park excited."
Per Keim, Crowder has "looked decisive and explosive in his routes," and the Redskins will be "reluctant" to remove him from three-receiver sets because of how good he's looked. Removing Crowder is a question because first-rounder Josh Doctson is joining DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon in the Redskins' receiver corps. Crowder has also drawn praise from Kirk Cousins.

That's really cool to hear. I hope he's able to bring it on special teams this year too.

I'll tell you who needs to step it the **** up now is Ryan Grant.

Crowder will be removed in the Red Zone because Doctson is a much bigger target, not only physically but also due to his athleticism.

I also don't believe for a minute that Doctson will never see the field otherwise due to Crowder being impressive in OTAs. We're not even to training camps yet.

What I might believe is that Doctson will gradually replace either Jackson or Garcon on the outside (most likely Garcon) rather than taking Crowder's snaps in the slot.

But I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle since the Redskins are running four receiver sets when they have three wide receivers. Reed is a tight end only in name.

If the pass protection is as good as last season (or hopefully better with LeRibeus out of there) we might even see some four and five receiver sets.

You have to think Gruden is drooling over the passing offense. It's got so many weapons I fail to see how it couldn't be used to set up the run.

Crowder caught 59 balls as a rookie in only six games started but some of that was due to injuries to other receivers.

Still, I think 75+ receptions is a fairly reasonable expectation for a player they will obviously design plays for.

It should be a lot of fun watching the passing offense this season.

David Bruton - DB - Redskins

CSN Mid-Atlantic reports David Bruton is getting the "first crack" at the Redskins' strong safety job.

Rich Tandler said Duke Ihenacho would have to be "clearly superior" in training camp to unseat Bruton, who started just eight games in his seven years with the Broncos. He does have a fourth-round pedigree, however, and showed well as a short stint as a starter before breaking his leg last season. DeAngelo Hall is locked in at free safety.

Junior Galette - LB - Redskins

The Washington Post reports Redskins OLB Junior Galette "(looked) explosive" in padless offseason practices.

Galette is questionable for the start of training camp, but has been progressing without setbacks. GM Scot McCloughan said his "explosion" was already back in April. Galette will be 11 months removed from going down when Washington reports. Galette notched 10 sacks in 2014 for the Saints.

Spencer Long - G - Redskins

CSN Mid-Atlantic's Rich Tandler is "100-percent confident" Spencer Long will open the season as the Redskins' starting left guard.

Fellow CSN Mid-Atlantic writer Tarik El-Bashir disagrees, believing instead Shawn Lauvao (ankle, foot) will earn the starting job. Lauvao did not participate at any point in the offseason program, however, and there are serious questions about his health coming off five surgeries to repair various lower-leg issues. 2015 fourth-rounder Arie Kouandjio could also get a look in training camp.

In Richmond, most days between now and the end of July the temp will be hovering between 95 -100. I sure hope it cools down before the 28th, otherwise practice will be brutal.
