A couple of Canadians got burned today by judging - I thought the Trampoline guy got totally hosed by the judges (a Chinese guy won with a considerably easier routine), and I thought that the Canadian diver got burned too. The diver only got burned in that the gold was completely a foregone conclusion and nobody was close to the Chinese guy. I'm not saying that that the Canadian would have won gold by any means, but if they'd have actually judged the performances, it would have been a lot closer than the final outcome actually was.

So maybe there's some solace to be taken by Americans that there are MANY countries that are being 'jilted' by suspect judging; and gymnastics isn't the only sport either.

I'm sure that's little consolation to Shawn and Nastia, but at the end of the day, that's all part of any 'judged' sport I guess.

I think that the Chinese have put on a clinic on how to host an Olympics. Things will be gleaned, copied, and emulated from this Olympics for years to come. Some things aren't that palatable to some viewers, but its impossible to deny that they have done EXACTLY what they wanted with these Games, and showed off China to the world.

From what i've seen the judging and scoring system are just completely ridiculous in gymnastics, without any sort of bias. If there is an actual bias of some sort among the non-partisan judges, that would really throw things off.

I really don't think this is a case of bias as much as incompetence. Not sure which is worse, though...
