Hognostications NFL Week 3

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Your picks were received on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 8:49 am. EDT You Have Submitted the Following Picks:

Name=JSPB22
Game01Êrolina
Game02=Chicago
Game03=Pittsburgh
Game04=Green Bay
Game05=Indianapolis
Game06=Buffalo
Game07=Miami
Game08=Washington
Game09=Cleveland
Game10=Seattle
Game11=Philadelphia
Game12=Arizona
Game13=New England
Game14=Atlanta
Tiebreaker7
Comments=Tough week for hognosticating.

For the record, I picked Carolina in game 1, and 37 points in the tiebreaker.

Finally, the "This Week's Selections" page still shows the picks for week 2, so I can not verify that my picks are in.

Well I received your picks a couple of days ago and with no format issues whatsoever, so unfortunately, the issue is likely with your own ISP, not the form itself.

The picks that I received are all posted... i just have to go back through my mailbox and make sure I got them all. :oops:

Please make sure that you check to make sure your picks are in, I had just an absolutely ridiculous amount of e-mail this week, and one or two could have easily slipped by. If your picks are not posted, please just send me a copy of the confirmation e-mail that you received so that I can enter them.

Also, i'm still getting picks after the deadline. The deadline for picks is 9:00pm on Friday night, unless stated differently on the schedule posted on the main page of the pool. Since people will always 'have their reasons for doing so', I think it's only fair that from here on out... I just won't enter the picks. So further to that, in an attempt to make it REAL easy for me to accomplish... WHEN the scheduled time for picks has passed, I am going to replace that week's picksheet with the next week's picksheet. So sending in picks late will not be an issue because you won't even be able to make picks for that week once the deadline has passed.

:up:

So get your picks in on time... even if it means hitting the picksheet and using one of the buttons at the top of the sheet to make your picks for you at the click of a button... randomly getting 7 or 8 right because you didn't have time to make your picks is better than getting 0 and dropping way back in the season standings.

But regardless of whether or not you fall out of the season standings, remember that there's nothing to stop you from taking your run at the 'weekly title' every week and since this week's winner is getting a pair of free hockey tickets, I'd say it's still worth playing weekly. :up:

Good luck with your Hognostications!!

I am delighted to report that everybody has exercised their inalienable right to free speech and picked winners accordingly.

I am also happy to report that everybody picked the Skins to win on Sunday. :wink:

Well, I know you have a name for those that pick against the 'skins, but they haven't even invented a word yet for somebody who would pick the Texans to beat anybdy.

The Hognostications section is updated... so the scores from Sunday's games have all been applied.

And while there may still be game left to play this week, the weekly winner has already been determined.

This week's winner got a prize, so I'm going to start a separate thread for that announcement to give the winner a little Hognostications limelight.

Thanks.

The top Hognosticators this week are:

Code: Select all

# Poster              W   L  T    Pct
1 cvillehog           11  2  0    84.6  36   Winner
2 CLL                 10  3  0    76.9  28   **
3 TincoSkin           10  3  0    76.9  30   **
4 skins2win           10  3  0    76.9  34   **
5 Jake                10  3  0    76.9  40   **
6 airhog              10  3  0    76.9  47   **

It took me a while to figure out why was cvillehog the winner with one game pending. But I see that all of them picked Atlanta and the relative order would not change.

Congratulations to the top Hogs!

With success ranging from 84.6% to 76.9%, few of us are going to catch up with you! :cry:

At least, I caught up with TexasHog! :lol: I am on my way to catch up with the a few others, not the top but other bottom dwellers as soon as the dust settles. :lol:

It's even scarier to fathom when you expand the numbers to see who rounds out the Top 10:

  7 TincoSkin             32   13   0   71.1      N/A    12.0     3     45
  8 die cowboys die       31   14   0   68.9      N/A    18.5     3     45
  10 REDEEMEDSKIN         31   14   0   68.9      N/A    21.0     3     45

Even worse, I'm only 3 games off the lead. :shock:

Maybe... obviously from the quoted posts... the results are updated as there are results for 45 games there. Perhaps your browser is loading from cache memory and not from the site... you can try hitting <CTRL> <F5> on the standings screen and seeing if it updates for you.

I just double checked all of the pages and they're all showing wht they should be right now... weekly standings current to last night, season standings current to last night, weekly picksheet is for the week of games coming up.... the NFL standings are up to date, the weekly matchups are showing next week's matchup data with data through this past week's results... the weekly picks still shows last week's picks but that's because of the game tonight.

So if you're viewing something other than any of that on the pages... try hitting <CTRL> <F5> and see if it helps.

My performance has been pathetic so far. :roll:

I may have to bench myself in favour of somebody who actually has a clue. This week, I might use a new technique - maybe choosing the team with the longest name in each game?

Then again, this miserable start will only serve to make my rampaging second half of the season all the sweeter. And I'm not the only one struggling. I really hate this whole parity thing. :oops:

Hmm, I don't know, UK. Compare:

Seatle Seahawks
Jacksonville Jaguars
Indianapolis Colts

To:
San Fransisco Forty-Niners
Tampa Bay Bucaneers

Yep, you're right. I'll pick the team with the most Brian's on the roster instead. That always works.

In fact, Irn Bru and UK, you are PATHETIC!!! What another excuse? SHeeeeshh. Learn from the master.

Master REDEEMED that is. :lol:

By the way, I do not know what were the week 3 picks made by Peter King. So, I do not have a score for him. If anybody has them, please post them. Then we will really know who did well and who did not.

The Skins will give you sure win this week RIC. IMO there seems to be more to picking winners than stats and the previous week... Theres a feeling to it. At least thats how I do it, it served me pretty well last year.

Just as a matter of comparison look at the scores by the expertsthis week :

Truer words have never been spoken Chris. :D

Witness for yourself...

Yes, I am quoting 'The Redeemed One', who yesterday wrote:...I'm only 3 games off the lead. :shock:

I tripped up a bit this week, but I'm hoping the Saints get me within two games by tomorrow. GO SAINTS!!!

Only two games now separate me from my rightful place atop the leader board. I will accomplish that this week, so Chris, pick carefully. :twisted:
