Look folks. Unless you can go back to the Eddie LEBaron, Ralph Gugliemi, George Izo, Dickie James, Don Bosseler, etc. days, you have no concept of what it means to have no hope of making the playoffs. In case you don't know any of these guys are, go back and do some Redskins history research. From there it was on to the Norm Snead to Bobby Mitchell era with still no chance of even achieving a winning season. Finally the George Allen era arrived and we finally became a playoff and then made it to the Super Bowl. From there, of course, Joe Gibbs took us to the glory days of regular trips to the playoffs and 3 Super Bowl wins. Since then, as we all know, we only made it back to the playoffs once. So, unless you can really say that you lived through all of that you don't need to be coming in here with your gloom and doom statements about how the playoffs are out of sight. It's something some of us have lived with for years. But, as I said, until someone tells us that the Skins have been mathematically eliminated, I will keep the faith and keep on pulling for them to win next weeks game against San Diego and keep alive the hope that they can win every game from here on out. Whether it happens, or not, won't change my support for the Washington Redskins.

Hilarious. I just dealt with UPS and wanted to cry. they suck. But more on topic, The skins dont suck, and the skins arent great. They are a middle of the pack team trying to hopefully gain consistancy. 1 week our offense looks great and the D gives up 400 yards, and the next week the D looks Stout and the offense looks like 2004 version. We obviously need a DE, a legit #2 WR and some secondary help. Hey all is not lost this season yet, but will be after next week. Hopefully next yeat we can stay on the plus side of turnovers and not get shafted a few gams by the zebra's. On the plus side, mabye Greg williams wont get a head coaching job and we can have a 3rd year with the same coaches...

Just more good news.

Look Its basically the same as drafing a QB this year. The differance is J.C. will have 1 year of learning under his belt. We got 2 1st rounders last year and we dont have one this year. Its not that huge dude. The sooner J.C. is ready to play the better, 2 cents.

Where we go from here is focus on San Diego. A very TOUGH team.

We lost to Oakland. Our record stands at 5-5. It's time to get our "stuff" straight.

Focusing on San Diego is our ultimate task as of now.

Wonder how much value George Allen put in first round draft choices?

Another poster said it best:

We need a pass-rushing DE or two. And, a legitimate NFL starting receiver to go with Santana Moss.

It's ridiculous to even talk about going to the playoffs without them. We'll just get blown out.

At this point, I'd just settle for a winning season and another win over Dallas, preferably 55-0.

I think that I heard that Dwight Freeney was going to be a free-agent at the end of this year, but we are probably salary-cap sunk on having any hope on getting him. Anyone else have any suggestions as to who they think we can get?

I wonder how much salary cap space we'll have next year since the bloated Coles cap number (as far as I know) will be off the books then. But I'm not thinking enough to get Freeney, and I'm sure the Colts wouldn't let him go in any case.

Dunno what we can do. Proven edge rushers are expensive, and we're not exactly a team that runs around with a ton of salcap space.

I just hope we can find a situational pass rusher in the 2nd round we can pick up. Be the best of both worlds, really, but then again, everyone is looking for pass rushers :)

The Redskins lost by 3 points to a decent football team despite their record where the Redskins had critical mistakes that cost them the game. The Redskins have their back against the walls, they have to minimize their mistakes or they will be out of contention. If the Redskins are out of contention, then the Redskins might see Ramsey and Campbell on the year. Also, I suspect that Portis is playing hurt so we could see him be shut down as well.

I love the enthusiasm. I wouldn't be surprised if we beat the Chargers, honestly, because this Skins team plays to the level of its opponent (except for the Giants/Niners games).

I wouldn't be surprised if the Redskins beat the Chargers, particularily since LT has been shut down before and their defense commits stupid penalties. Of course the Redskins can win, if they show up with their passion which wasn't shown in the 2nd half of today's game.

Face it, Redskins are a 5-5 team

Post by old-timer »

Other teams have figured out that if you keep in enough blockers, you can play pitch and catch all day against us. This is why you have unknown wide-outs looking like all-pros.

Without pass rushers, we are dead, dead, dead.

The offense is closer. One more good receiver, and we're there. I know, the O-line is not quite there yet either, but Buges can fix that with odds and ends picked up from around the league.

Hopefully, Gibbs will find them in the off-season. As we currently stand, 9-7 would be a miracle.

The way I see it, the season became a 50 percent a success with the win over the Cowboys. That sure was sweet.

I agree. If we have one more guy who can get open when we only send two guys out then we can max protect and the QB can get the ball out faster. The problem yesterday was we couldn't get anyone open when we max protected and we couldn't stop the pass rush when we didn't. Another offensive weapon will help this.

I also think that better play calling would have helped this too. And as for the poster who said Portis isn't 100%, I agree. I think he was just about 100% at the beginning of the game but they rode him into the ground in the first quarter. We established him early but then never bothered to establish anything else until we were forced to. The whole idea behind good playcalling is that when you start ripping off big runs and they're expecting run you pass because then you control the tempo of the game and you keep things open on the ground while the defense is guessing. You don't keep running until your RB is worn out and you can't run anymore and then say "oh shoot, we better start throwing the ball I guess." Bad playcalling yesterday, there was absolutley no rhythm to our offense. We were outcoached by NORV TURNER!

I know I'm the 800th person to post this but I was extremely dissapointed in the play calling yesterday, especially in the fourth quarter. Gibbs totally abandonded the run, if I recall correctly, Portis may have had three rushes for that entire quarter. That is pathetic. Fine, he put the ball on the ground twice (couldn't tell how bad either fumble was from my seats) but he was virtually the only effective part of the offense yesterday. I love Gibbs but that was some poor coaching in the 4th quarter.
