Good player and only 28 years old.
Dashon Goldson is visiting Dallas, so that option might be off the table soon.
Bruton signed.

Indeed.
David Bruton - DB - Redskins Redskins signed S David Bruton, formerly of the Broncos, to a three-year, $9 million contract. It's a nice signing for a team that received arguably the league's worst safety play in 2015. Bruton has been a key reserve for the Broncos since 2009, and was having a strong 2015 before breaking his leg late in the year. Bruton is a core special teamer who should be one of the Redskins' top three safeties in 2016.

He was selected as the Broncos' Walter Payton Man of the Year, so at the very least it sounds like we're getting someone with great character and a positive locker-room presence.
This signing reminds me of when we signed Jeron Johnson last year. Same kind of player for his old team, same kind of contract, hoping he can break through and be a starter here. Hopefully we'll have better luck with this one.
Junior Galette signed, one year, up to $4 million.

Good. I'd heard we were far apart.
I haven't seen the specifics but I understand they compromised by making it highly incentive-laden rather than guaranteed. I think we became less far apart once Long signed with New England and Galette realized the supply was exceeding the demand. I thought the Skins needed him more than he needed them but it now appears his options were limited. I just hope he actually sees the field all 16 games this season.

I know he struggled with snaps, but he has proven himself to be at the least a rather competent backup. And maybe he even showed flashes that have the FO thinking he could be a long-term starter.

I admit I didn't necessarily see it, but . . .
Yeah I'm sure you're right.
Honestly, I prefer to see the team re-signing our own guys rather than looking for outside help. He played last year, got a year in the system, a year of coaching from Callahan. So if they believe LeRib has something to offer next year, I applaud it.

Jordan Reed hires a new agent : Washington tight end will be looking for a new contract soon.
The tight will be entering the final year of his rookie contract. Redskins tight end Jordan Reed has signed with NFL agent Joel Segal, according to two people with knowledge of the situation. Reed was previously represented by Sunny Shah, who Reed hired before the start of last season. Before Shah, he was represented by Elevate Football
The Redskins and Reed have had discussions on a contract extension this offseason as he enters the final year of his deal, but the two sides weren’t close to what Reed wanted.
The 25-year-old is coming off a career year last season after dealing with injuries during his first two years. The Florida product had 87 catches for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Segal represents a number of Redskins players, including wide receiver DeSean Jackson, defensive back DeAngelo Hall and linebacker Perry Riley Jr.

He's straight trash, a big reason the team had no rushing game. He's either a camp body or a backup.

I agree with BG&F - IF LeRibeus is here, it's only as a back-up and that would mean we were a little desperate for O linemen
The starting O line in 2013 was Trent; Kory; Montgomery; Chester and Polumbus
The starting O line in 2014 was Trent; Lauvao; Kory; Chester and Compton
I am so looking forward to only having Trent Williams still be on the roster
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

So you guys don't think Scot McCloughan is capable of evaluating offensive linemen? BG&F just wrote that LeRib is "straight trash". There are like 49 unsigned FA offensive linemen out there including guys like Okung and Wisniewski. No reason we should be "desperate".
I agree that LeRib is likely a backup. Then again, none of us expected to see Morgan Moses starting at RT last year. Shows you what we know.
Anyway, its a low minimum salary where he can be cut anytime. LeRib isn't guaranteed anything, going to have to earn a spot on the roster if he wants to be here in 2016. I'd personally be happier to see him succeed than to see another failed pick from the 2012 draft.

McCloughan is entirely capable but he's also smart. He's going to let the free agency market and the draft play out. Players like Okung aren't cheap even by vet minimum standards. And he's a tackle, not a center. Wisniewski is a center and reasonably priced but he couldn't survive in Jacksonville. That doesn't help his cause. I'm still waiting to see what they do with Lichtensteiger but I have to think their plan is to cut him and take the $4 million in cap space to sign someone younger and cheaper than Kory and with more upside than LeRibeus.

IMO - this FO is going to continue to show restraint - this franchise has many areas of need and they know it's not worth trying to have a short term fix in one area when the best thing for the franchise is to remain committed to the long term plan for the whole roster
I think we're going to continue to see younger, bigger, faster players brought in and the long term result will be good starters with good depth
this FO (and Scot) are going to be looked at as one of the best in the NFL soon

I don't think the issue with Kory is that he's too expensive. I think the issue with him is that they want more size and better play at that position. Younger and cheaper doesn't address that.
Kind of believe they'll see how the draft shakes out and how players look in OTAs before doing anything on Lichtensteiger. Wasn't there some talk of moving Spencer Long to center also? If Kouandjio looks ready to step in at guard, maybe we would see that move?

Linebacker Terence Garvin took a couple of visits after free agency opened last week as he looked for a spot to play football during the 2016 season.
One of those visits was with the Redskins and it appears Garvin found what he was looking for in Washington. The former Steeler tweeted out a picture of a signed contract laying on top of Redskins gear on Thursday afternoon."

I don't know a thing about him but it seems Pittsburgh was unhappy to lose him so there's that.
And this:
"I think you've got to watch the guy we call 'Big Safety,' Terence Garvin," Butler said. "Terence Garvin one day will be a starter in this league. That's my opinion."
"We're so loaded inside we've got to find a place for him, so we're playing him outside and inside, playing him both sides to see if he can learn both. You always have to have a swing guy. Stevenson Sylvester was always the swing guy. Now it's 'Big Safety,' or maybe Zumwalt. We'll see."

The Redskins have re-signed running back Chris Thompson, the team announced Thursday afternoon.
The 2013 fifth rounder had been an exclusive rights free agent.
Thompson appeared in 13 games last season and posted career-highs in rushing attempts (35), rushing yards (216), receptions (35) and receiving yards (240). The 25-year-old also hauled in two touchdown passes.
Thompson’s biggest performance came in the Wild Card loss to the Packers. In that game, he took his only carry 25 yards and also made eight catches for 89 yards, including a long of 38.
Thompson was, however, dogged by injuries once again. He missed three games in 2015, one due to a bruised back and two more because of a shoulder injury. The fourth-year pro had surgery earlier this offseason to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
Thompson rejoins a backfield that currently includes Matt Jones, Mack Brown and Silas Redd Jr. Alfred Morris and Pierre Thomas remain unsigned.

Read something over the weekend that some of the FO restraint might have to do with 2017. Need to preserve cap space to re-sign guys like Jordan Reed. I like that approach and it has to be motivating for the players they've drafted and developed.

The Washington Redskins are still interested in tight end Vernon Davis, general manager Scot McCloughan said on Tuesday during the NFL annual meeting in Boca Raton, Fla. Davis, a D.C. native, visited Redskins Park on March 10 during the second day of free agency, but the 32-year-old remains on the market as an unrestricted free agent.
“He’s in great shape,” McCloughan said. “We brought him in, and he’s a football player. It’s one of those guys that’s never been injured because his genetics are so incredible. He can block, he can run and he can catch. All of a sudden we add another weapon to the offense and [defensive] coordinators aren’t going to understand the way we’re coming at them.”
I'd like to see him on the team with us running 2-tight end sets.
