Who's the winner here ?
I don't know, for sure. Boomer fits right in with the whole "idiot" theme they have running through that green dugout.

From NY Times today:
Bizzaro. I think Wells can still pitch a bit, just as El Duque can, but only a bit. That's the left-handed, 41-year old Wells pitching in Boston, where a pop-fly gets you a home-run to left.
Strange choice.
Pavano: good pickup.[/b]
The Red Sox guaranteed Wells's contract, which could be worth as much as $18 million. Wells, a left-hander, will receive a $3 million signing bonus and will earn $2.5 million in 2005 and in 2006. He can earn $5 million in incentives each year if he makes 30 starts, which breaks down to $250,000 for starts 11 through 30.
Wells was fanatical enough about his passion for Yankees history to wear a 1934 Babe Ruth cap once on the mound at Yankee Stadium. Now, home to the 41-year-old Wells will be Fenway Park, a place he once volunteered to destroy.
"It's a little more Babe Ruth history," Gregg Clifton, Wells's agent, said Saturday. "Now he's doing everything Babe did because he'll pitch for both teams. He'll be different than Babe. Babe started with the Red Sox. He'll finish with them."
Wells went 12-8 with a 3.73 earned run average in 31 starts with the San Diego Padres this year and made $6 million, which included $4.75 million in incentives. The Padres had offered Wells salary arbitration and discussed a one-year deal with incentives for $7 million. But Clifton said the Red Sox pursued Wells aggressively and spent 14 hours on Friday and Saturday negotiating the deal.
