Madden '05 or ESPN 2K5?

Post by redskinsranger »

Madden or ESPN? Why? I chose ESPN, i love the gameplay, graphics, strategy and of course voice over, because madden talks to me like im a baby..."Ya see, the play starts when the center hikes the ball.".....Thank You, John....Freaking....Madden.

Madden is the better game overall. I just wanted to try something new for a change. ESPN is horrid to control on defense, where Madden is bliss.

You think so? Defense hasn't been a problem for me in ESPN. There was an adjustment period for me since I was going from a cube controller to an x-box controller, but I'm not getting burned on missed tackles every other play like I was in Madden.

Playing a quickie game in first person mode is kinda fun, especially if you run a lot.

I'd take Madden '05 over ESPN. I've played both, but Madden '05 seems more fun. John Frikken Madden gets annoying after a while: "Oh, he should have made that interception..blah blah blah. " I just muted his arse. Much better without Madden talking.

I enjoy playing both of them equally. But since you can pickup ESPN for $20, 2K5 gets my vote.

I made that statement purely in opinion.

I know that both games take a minute to adjust to when swapping between them but thats not what I feel on the defensive side of the ball. I feel on defense that its harder to read the development of the play in comparision to Madden. Madden is not easier but it seems that you can definately decipher the play if you're halfway intelligent.

I will admit that I haven't been able to devote a lot of time to ESPN so that could really be my problem.

I will say that I love ESPN's running game and it destroys Maddens running game in comparision. In ESPN you can actually follow your blocks and they really make intelligent blocks. I dont know about you guys but running the counter-trey out of the triple formation to the weak-side in ESPN is extremely satisfying. I dont particulary care for ESPN's floaty ball flight physics in the passing game. I do like the way the QB drops back.

The passing game really takes some getting used to. For me the problem is expecting a nice lob over the linebacker, but instead getting a line drive through the linebacker's chest.

Coming from Madden and its pressure sensitive passing, to the Box's lack of it is hard to do. I love the Maximum passing.

Also I love the VIP feature.

Franchise mode in ESPN really kills me. It's different enough from Madden to the point that I can't even start a second season in it.
