from pretenders to contenders
First of all make four trades
1. Trade Coles, he is too little. I don't care if he is the fastest guy on two feet he drops passes and can't be seen downfield. That would give us probably a second
2. Trade Gardener, he sucks and can't do jack. What we would get a second.
3. Trade Portis he is a good player but doesn't fit into Gibbs offense. What we would get is a first
4. Trade Samuels, he has the physical tools but he will never be great because he is not a killer. He doesn't have a killer instinct to be a hog or dirtbag. We could get a first.
Now we have 3 no.1's and two no.2's.
In the first round draft Cederic Benson, 225 and 4.2 forty a big bruiser. He could be the best back in the NFL as a rookie. With the second pick draft a Wr a guy who is 6'3 and could get downfield, with our third first round pick draft a De we have a great D but a pass rushing DE is still a need. With our second round picks draft another Wr Mcants is good but he is not a starter. With our other second round pick draft a big Te's someone that is 280-275 that has solid hands. Mainly a ferocious blocker. With our third round pick draft a center. Raymer is a clown and we need a center desperatly.

John this post made me want to kick someones ass. Why on earth would you trade Laveranues Coles for a 2nd round pick and Portis for a 1st. Samuels I agree with, and if we could get a 2nd for Rod I'd strongly consider but other than this I dont like your scenario. By the way I dont know what Cedric Benson you've been watching but he definitely does not run anywhere near tha 4.2 range. He runs around a 4.5

Yeah right, they line him up as a reciever on passing situations. Coles have you watched his like 20 dropped passes. The other is right money wise were stuck with Portis. That was a dum trade. Baily isn't good ethier but we should have traded him for draft picks not free agents. Teams are built threw the draft. Portis is too little he is not a ball control back that is needed in Gibbs offense. We need a ball control back. He is a west coast offense back ot Mike Martz not a Gibbs back. The other guy is right were stuck with Coles and Portis. We still need recievers ours suck. O-line too.

Forget Cederic Benson, let's get Cederic the Intertainer.
Portis is a small squirmy back. He doesnt have a lot of power, but he's agile. I don't think he fits in Gibbs' scheme either tho.
.
Maybe we can get a big back who can plow throw people like Ahman Green and keep Portis as a back up? Dude, I dunno. All I know is that Portis was hella good when he was a Bronco.
Maybe, like I've been hearing from all the Redskins postgame shows, the Redskins have to establish a passing threat, so the the defense on the opposing team won't be up close all the time.
Portis has 945 rushing yards. Last year he finished with over 1500. Who knows. This subject will only get me more aggitated

We can start to build though the draft this year IF
1. We bring in a GM who can get the type of players that Joe wants.
2. Trade down for more picks (San Deigo has two 1st round picks) trade with them so they move up then trade on of the two we get from them for a 2nd and 3rd
3. Get at least a 2nd/3rd for Gardner (we can find good O-linemen in the 2nd and 3rd rounds)
4. At this point it might not be a bad idea to shut Coles down so he can heal (he's been playing hurt for two years)
5. Gibbs will adjust his gameplans more to fit Portis style of running it's just taking longer than we expected

Coles is one of, if not the fastest receivers in the league.
He was open last year, alot and so was Patrick

John, this isn't a game of madden, pulling off one big name off season trade is a rarity, much less four. Coles is almost a pro bowl receiver, gardner although inconsistant is going into a contract year i believe. Portis isn't the right back for our offense but we're stuck with him. Probably the only thing your right about is samuels, but he makes so much i doubt we can move him anywere.
Good idea about trading down though, would love to see us get a top 5 pick and then turn it into an additional first rounder but that would be tough. We'll see

John, its a good thing that you are not our GM. If you were we would absolutley suck.
It seems that every time Portis is not doing good, you come on here saying we should have never made the trade. But when he is doing good you have nothing to say. (coincedence I think not.)
If we have had one bright spot on offense. It would have to be Clinton Portis. Before last season, we would all say we are happy with a 1000 yard back. Through 11 weeks, he has 945. Not to mention the fact that if Portis has not gone over 100 we have not won. Without him we would not have beaten anyone.
Every week Portis has a bad week you say draft Cedric Benson.
Runs a 4.5 not a 4.2. Has had injury problems, And the big reason, he has had OFF THE FIELD LEGAL PROBLEMS
Which means HE DOES NOT FIT IN A JOE GIBBS SYSTEM!!!
There is no way he would draft a player with these issues.
(You can't compare this with Taylor because this was after he was drafted. He gives his players second chances, but will not draft a player with these issues.)
Guys who have drug charges, and records of breaking into apartments will not work with Joe.
As for Coles. You can't get rid of a guy because of one bad season. As a matter of fact he is on pace for more catches than last year. And that's with a broken toe. I think you even said that he was a great wide out yourself .
As a matter of fact http://www.the-hogs.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8670
Gardner possibly understandable even though I like the guy.
Samuels. If he restructures he will be a redskin for a while, if not he might be gone.
If we make these trades we could not even win a game in Madden!!!

Your an idiot, Benson has no line, no Qb and his numbers are still sick. Yeah I do say draft Benson and I have always thought that but bringing it up everyweek would get boring, so I do it everyother. Yeah your right Portis has been consitent (carcsum). Over 500 of his yds. have come in 3 different games. what does that say about the other 8. As for off field problems, Riggins was a headcase before he played for Gibss and had a ton of issues. I guess he wouldn't fit in Gibbs system and Gibbs wouldn't give him a second chance. Now that I have destroyed that theory. Coles has not been a threat all season in this offense last year they threw so much that our recievers numbers were inflated. Coles was never that good. He is too little he has always been hurt since he has got here. This year he has so many receptions because Gibbs throws so many flanker screens, he gets nothing downfield. They need a wr that is 6'3 and could get downfield. Samuels did you see the Pitt and Philly game Offsides no.60 against Pitt he was getting beat left and right. I will say this were stuck with Coles and Portis for a couple of years though becuase of the money. Someone broght that up in another post. My team in Madden won the superbowl for the third straight time so I will destroy that theory also.
Ray lewis, Coles, Warren Sapp, Randy Moss, all had legal problems in college I guess none of them should be considered when they were coming our of college. There is also a ton more but I don't remember but there good now.

I'm the idiot when you CAN'T COME CLOSE SPELLING THE WORD SARCASM CORRECTLY.
WHen it comes to the WR position size is not always key. Coles has great Speed , and exceptional hands when healthy.
You say draft Benson because he can put up numbers without a line. That's college, every running back in the Nfl now can make plays without a line in college. Portis has been doing it this year without one person (except for possibly Randy Thomas) playing up to their full potential, and he is still #8 in rushing.)
Was riggins a headcase, absolutley, did he get into trouble off the field, no.
By the way Benson is not even the best running back, in his confrence he is getting beat out by a freshman.
