Why play Darnerian McCants. He only catches passes every time he gets in games, a third of the time geting in the endzone. He wouldn't have even been activated if it weren't for other injuries, but he got some PT.

What did he do... In one series he caught back-to-back balls for 47 yards, making his presence felt. How's Gibbs going to put him back on the bench now.

I remember hearing Gibbs say McCants did good and we'll see more of him (not in those exact words). Did you hear something different?????

He will justify putting him on the bench and this is how. Ramsey was not practicing with the starters prior to this game. He was practicing with the likes of McCants. When he had a wee bit of trouble connecting to people like Gardener and Coles, they thought for a second, "Maybe he can connect to the guy he's been practicing with." So they put McCants in. I don't expect to see him in there this week. Unless Patrick himself makes a fuss about it. I don't like the reasoning and I don't like McCants not being in there but I believe this is exactly what happened.

Actually, I read where Gibbs is going to start taking looks at Jabobs and McCants more (in addition to other players). Sorry, don't have a link at the moment...

Joe picked a great time to "take a look" at McCants. Is it just me, or is McCants Joe's "Wild Card" going into the Iggles matchup. There is no film on McCants' play this year fo rthe Erkels to study. He should create havoc in the endzone against those ladies.

Not to mention the fact that were entering the tough part of our season with virtual "secret weapons" at QB and WR, since teams have not studied Patrick's and Darnerien's tendencies.

Checkmate, Skins!!!!

That should make for an interesting first half. Jim Johnson normally does a good job at adjusting at halftime, however.

So does Coach Gibbs. If we are playing well for a change at halftime, we may see some halftime adjustments for once. As I said in an earlier thread, not much sense in adjusting where to throw your incomplete pass attempts.

McCants had to impress the coaches on Sunday. He's a solid player as are Coles, Gardner, Thrash and even Jacobs.

With those guys + Portis, I just don't understand how our offense can be so poor. Is it just the offensive line? Play calling? Help me out here.

Per Gibbs interveiw D-Mac was not active most games due to a numbers crunch @ WR. You can only dress 53 on Sunday & he only wanted to dress 4 WR, mainly to keep Morton active for return duty. Now that Morton is out and Thrash is doing double duty (WR/KR) it has opened up a spot for D-Mac. Look for him to see more time.

I'm sure you're right, but it's not too often you see a team go out of their way to make sure they keep a guy, only to have him end up a "numbers crunch" casualty...

It's NOT uncommon for Gibbs to use his backups when he puts a backup QB in the lineup. These are the guys he's used to throwing to and he knows their moves and trusts them. Even in preaseason, Patrick's boys caught more from Patrick when he was in than they did from Brutal (then again, no one in known memory in a Redskins jersey has caught a pass from Brutal.....records are still being studied).

I have a good feeling McCants will be playing a lot more and Coles will get back to form. If you recall, Ramsey and Coles had a pretty good connection last season.

I think Gibbs' scheme of max protection coupled with Brunell's questionable arm strength brought out one of the weeknesses in our receivers - lack of world class speed... Jacobs is the fastest and he hasn't learned to use it... when we put fewer guys out on pass routes, and we don't have a guy to scare the defense with speed and draw attention, it makes it hard to create much open space to throw to...

I could be wrong but if my memor serves me correctly McCants has had a good game every time he's taken the field in burgundy and gold since we drafted him out of Delaware State.

He's a baller. How on earth is he playing behind Taylor Jacobs? All the man does is make plays and hurdle the goal line. If I could ask Gibbs one thing, it woudln't be why he waited so long to Yank Brunell, why Rock gets no touches, or even why Cooley is underused.

It would be what about McCants don't you like???

In our last preseason game McCants caught like a 60-yard toucdown to cap off a solid showing prior to the opener. Then he's inactive, and inactive some more, and inacitve some more. Finally he plays, and good things happen.

Not in the salary cap era. However, Gibbs was notorious for stashing promising players in the first go around. He would stash players on IR for a headache. LOL!

Jacobs is faster than Coles?? I think not. . .

Here's my suggestion to relieve our WR woes. . . Here's who the Skins should start in depth chart order:

1. Coles
2. McCants
3. Smoot
4. Gardner

Smoot would be perfect! He would not only be a speedster, but he would make a great possesion guy, hammering through defenders. :)
Have no fear, Moss will make it happen.

Yeah, it should be added that those were the first completions on consecutive pass plays the 'Skins had in the whole game! He should definately play more!

i hope you're joking. do you remeber champs few times he got HIT trying to catch the ball instead of delivering it? ..... fumblitis. there is a reson defensive backs are indeed defensive backs instead of speedy WR's..... they can't catch...... they do better knocking the ball down instead of trying to make a grab. ;)

Gibbs is simply getting D-Mac's back here in the media. The fact of the matter apparently is that D-Mac wasn't going balls-out in practice, which is something that Joe looks for. Now that things are thinning out, D-Mac will have every opportunity to show what he can do, and maybe get himself one a them "Bruce Smith" arrangements for practices.

Let me follow this by saying, all I know is what I read here. Never saw the man practice.

i've always been a HUGE mccants fan, but i trust the coaches to play the guys that give us the best chance to win. i respect the fact that i am not in every practice so i don't know more that they do...

that said, i'm thinking mccants and ramsey give us a boost and we win this game. maybe that is wishful thinking and i feel like i have said it 1,000,000 times before but... really, who has lined up and really beaten us this year... (i mean aside fron brunell)
