Was that a spectacular catch on the goal line or what?

This guy has easily surpassed the expectations I had for him at the start of the season. He catches anything thrown near him and I expected him to be a good receiver, but his blocking skills are getting better and better every week.

The H-Back is a major cog in the Joe Gibbs machine, and for him to start a rookie at that position says a lot about the player.

This guy is definately my favorite active player this season.

As the H-Back, he is a blocker as much as a pass catcher. Unlike a receiver, Cooley doesn't go out on every play. He is responsible for blitz pickups, lead blocks, etc.

Plus, for all we know, some of those passes that landed in the middle of nowhere could have been intended for Cooley.

I agree. Not much has been made of him it seems, but Cooley has done really well this season as a rookie. Great draft pick!

He didn't come cheap, but he has wildly exceeded my expectations.
He has certainly held his own against the rookie class of '04.

Exactly. Suppose we had drafted KW2 and he played even this well for us (which is an assumption in itself). Then maybe we'd have a lot of people saying "see? He was worth the draft pick!"

This way, we get someone who has played just about as well as we could hope for (good point about not going out on every play), AND we've got the stud safety many of us also wanted.

Imagine what we could do with even more draft picks. . . .

I do imagine what we could do with more picks. Every day of my life, I imagine what we could do.
The problem is, they're treated like currency on our team. Easy come, easy go.
While Joe has a pretty good track record with undrafted FA's, there's only so many gems to be uncovered. Why not save the picks for some 'a them right-out-in-the-open gems ?

I will not go that far. I will say he is one of my favourite players, certainly the best rookie on offense.

I suspect that Ramsey, Cooley, McCants, Jacobs and Coles are the members who will make it happen for us. I trust them.

For me, the O-line is where it's at. With a Coach Gibbs team, the tightends and H-Backs are part of the o-line in my book. My boy Jansen is out, and I think Cooley has the skills to be an all-time great. HE's got the receiving skills and is developing the blocking skills to be a force.

 Of course. This is our speed and size. Why we have not used them before is only excuses. 3 speedy WR with "GOOD" hands and a tank for a TE.

This guy is money. I watched him and Mark Wilson kicking field goals at Ford Field in pregame and he drilled a 45-yarder with yards to spare! I wish I could say this about Kimrin's kicks..

As I said a few months ago, how come we don't give the ball to cooley on a pitch out or hand off near the goal line, to just pound it in? I mean, he is a fullback in addition to H-Back and Tight-End.

I think that it's because we get there so little that we don't really practice that during the week. Besides, him chip blocking his man and then rolling outside seems to work every time.

Loved his attitude at camp and it has carried onto the field this year. Yes JF - he could have double his catches if you count bounced one hoppers.

Not dogging on Cooley at all, but isn't Gates in SD a rookie too? Without looking anything up, I'd be willing to bet he leads rookie TE's in receiving and TD's. I know it only counts if he's a rookie though.

Cooley has got to be THEE MOST UNDER-UTILIZED player on the team this year. He is truly a weapon. Take a look at what Witten is doing for the Cowboys! Cooley is certainly capable of putting up comparable numbers!

Hopefully, Ramsey will find him...and find him often.

Cooley is our best kept secret. Having Ramsey in there, though, is probably going to mean Max Protect even on handoffs. :)
Here's to hoping the kid can break free of his blocking duties once in a while to get some balls thrown to him.
