Gibbs Coment on Ramsey
I was listening to the post game radio show and something that coach said kind of stunned me. When being asked how he thought Ramsey did, he said that he did okay but he did have some mistakes.
How come Gibbs has never said this about Brunell?? We all know how many mistakes Brunell has made but JGibbs never said anything about him!
Whats up with that?

Yeah thats pretty much what Gibbs is saying.
Ramsey did make some mistakes. He also took some chances and we went right down field.
I will have loved to have seen him start from day one.

Opening statement:
"I feel like we dug such a hole in the first half. It really wasn't us. I don't feel like that's our football team, but we played a poor first half and I think we dug ourselves such a hole that we couldn't get out of it. I admire guys for the way they fight back. They continue to fight in the fourth quarter. I really feel like when you get off to that kind of a start, it's really hard to overcome. I just think we got ourselves so far into the hole that we couldn't get ourselves out."
On why he decided to change QBs tonight:
"It's kind of a gut feeling. I felt like we had some shots there (with replacement Patrick Ramsey). I went over to talk to (QB) Mark (Brunell) and I think he understood. It was just one of those things where it was my decision and I felt like we needed to make it at that point to give Patrick a shot."
On how he will approach the QB position heading into next week's game:
"I think (the assistant coaches and I) will put our heads together, look at the film tomorrow, and kind of go over everything and announce what we're going to do there. We just told our team, from here on out, we'll probably be a real underdog. It will be a real test each and every week from here on out for us. I admire the way we fight, but I just felt like we played poorly today--in the first half in particular."
On Patrick Ramsey (QB, #11)'s performance:
"The first thing is that we put him in a tough situation. You're behind and not playing well, so I think you put pressure on yourself. Obviously he threw a few (poor) passes in there, that when you're trying to make something happen, that's what happens. It's a tough situation to be in. But also, I felt like he made some real good plays. He had real poise, and if you looked at him on the sideline, he was very composed. I felt like he handled it all very well. He got thrown into a tough deal--everything from red ball to throwing the ball downfield. So it was a tough situation for him."
On player injury updates:
"We think Khary (Campbell, LB, #51) probably hurt his knee. We'll take a look at it, but Khary will probably have to have surgery. With Cornelius (Griffin, DT, #96), he came out--it's his hip flexor--it could be something where he will bounce right back from it. We'll take an MRI tomorrow and see if it's anything more serious than that."
On if he is surprised that Mark Brunell (QB, #8) hasn't regained past form:
"Our whole offensive team has struggled. We know that. I don't know if you can make a lot more of it than that. I feel like when we make a decision to go with a different quarterback--I am reluctant to make a change there--but at this point I felt like it was the smart thing for us to do. I felt that it was right, so I made the change. I know that Mark is disappointed that he didn't play better than he has (in the past). I think we need to see if we can get a lift. I think we know a lot about Mark now. We've seen him play a lot and that's good. Like I said, we'll probably sit down and think our way through it, but in all likelihood, I think it's probably good to give Patrick a chance to see what he can do."
On if his thinking has changed since being named head coach:
"I feel bad for (owner) Dan (Snyder), our fans, the front office, and the coaching staff. I'm not focused on me. I wanted to do this and I'm committed to do this. I don't care how long it takes. Whatever we have to change, I'm not afraid to change anything. I'm committed to fight our way through it and try to build the franchise. I would say, Hey, we've got a lot to fight for down the stretch here.' We're going to be matched against some of the best teams in the NFL. It's going to be a real measuring stick for us. We'll see how we play. We have a tough bunch of guys. They've been very competitive every week. They tried hard. Here in the second half, they came back from really digging ourselves a big hole there. They continued to fight. I admire the fight in our guys. We'll see--we're really going to be matched up against some good teams down the road here."
On the team's habit to commit costly penalties:
"I think the penalties really hurt us today again. I want to take a good long, close look at them. I think I really need to study and see where we are off there. I feel like we are well-organized in practice. I try to take a look at all of that stuff. I'm disappointed because I think we should play a lot smarter than that."

I'm glad they put ramsey in but he could have EASILY thrown 6 picks. He settled in a bit but he's really lucky b/c things could have gotten really REALLY ugly.
I hope he's able to settle and show us what he's capable of from here on out.

Ramsey deserves a chance to start and finish the remainder of the season. It's hard to judge his performance so far, when had to throw the ball 40 times in 2 quarters. Cincy was just waiting for him to throw.
He's mopped up 2 games so far, and has definitley been more impressive than Brunell. I would like to see him get 90% of the reps in practice and see what he can do in this offense with a running game in place.

How many more sleeps until next season?

A lot of the problems Ramsey had, at least early though, had everything to do with velocity. It takes a while to adjust from Tim Wakefield to Curt Shilling. One play in particular it was really evident. Coles was open in the back of the end zone and turned around and the ball was there. Brunell's pass would have taken a split second longer to get there and Coles would have had time. Instead he barely had time to get a hand on it. Once the receivers adjusted, the team seemed to be able to move the ball. Also, DMAC played well in his shot. The only receiver who was thrown the ball that didn't drop the ball. He and Ramsey have been playing together all season on the scout team though, so I thought it was a good move to get them in together on the field. Makes me think that Coach Gibbs made him active for just such an occasion. I have a feeling Brunell was told this was his last shot.
