Spurrier not interested in Miami

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Spurrier not interested in Miami

Post by Redskins1974 »

Call me crazy but I think the Redskins job humbled Spurrier. His ego seems to have taken a back seat. First, he turns down UF and now the Dolphins. Anyways, my bet is he either remains retired or takes over at UNC.

with all the money he made off us, he ought to retire and play golf

he'll be under constant scrutiny whereever he goes....who needs that?
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.

I really want to see him in the NFL, I think he probably learned alot in his stint with the skins and am very curious as to what he would do in a situation with a proven GM picking his talent and a strong deffensive coordinator.

I truly think that Spurrier would succeed as an offensive coordinator in the NFL. However, he'd never demote himself to taking a position like that (so I guess my argument above about ego is thrown out the window :-) ).

Off-hand, Spurrier was the worst NFL head coach I can remember, and that goes back to the late '50s. Our Mike Nixon had George Preston Marshall, in his last demented years, running the Skins...so Nixon doesn't count.

I don't think Spurrier would even make a good offensive coordinator, since that run&shoot offense was tried in the NFL more than ten years ago, and failed.

Therefore, I hope that Spurrier really is interested in the Dolphins, or that Huizinga can pay him enough to make him interested.

Imagine if all other teams had Spurrier-clones at head coach?

I think he'll pop up in Carolina. North or South is the question

Well he used to coach Duke, I believe. Maybe UNC is a possibility..

But, I hear USC is dangling a membership at Augusta National (where they play the Master's Golf Tournament). You know how the ol' ball coach is about his golf!

Edit:
USC = University of South Carolina, not the other USC.

But don't they have a winning record!? And aren't they coached by Lou Holtz? Who in their right mind would pitch Holtz for Spurrier? That's insane!

Holtz was talking of retiring. He was asked about the rumor, and he stated that he thought it would be a great move if he retired.

JoePa too, but it's too cold there for Spurrier.
Anyway, it's good that he's not in Miami. Clearly, he's not cut out for the big time- Not as a player, and not as a coach.
