Who Won The Trade
Its been 8 weeks. So far, who won the big Champ for Clinton trade.
I would have to say us based on the fact that Portis has 810 yards in 8 games. I don't think we ever had a running back with this kind of production. He is on pace to easily break our franchise rushing record, and our record for most carries.
Bailey has not been nearly as good as he was when he was here. But he has been good.
Portis is on pace to have the season we expected. Bailey may not even make the pro bowl.

I agree SkinFan! I think I noticed today that the ponies have let CB's position coach go! Maybe things in that secondary are not as good as they hoped?
Their D is better because of CB but I really am glad that we have Portis and our CB's are playing great!

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Guess who will go to the playoffs? Broncos or Redskins? I think the it's a draw. The Donkeys can always fill the RB position. Plus they got a great corner. Maybe he hasn't played as well this year but he's still one of the NFL's elite. On the other hand you guys have filled in Champ's spot nicely.
Good trade for both teams.

TOUCHDOWN .....WASHINGTON REDSKINS !!!!
I agree that, at this time, both teams should be optimistic about the trade. IMO (maybe I'm biased) I really like the look of this trade (long term) for us!
The ponies may make the playoffs, but we are looking further than that and we will have a devastating runner for many years.

I'd have to say the Skins, because Portis was brought in to give us a running game and he has Bailey hasn't been missed with the addition of Springs. Champ went to Denver to be there shutdown corner not only has he not been that but some teams have went right after him, and came out ahead.
That being said this trade can't be graded after 8 games because neither team brought their guy in thinking it would take them to the top or that the 1st year would be the determining factor in who got the best of the deal.
I say the Skins win but the reality is Champ is happy, Portis is happy, Denver is happy and so are the Skins so maybe it was a no loss trade.

Because of the draft pick we gave away...I'd say Denver takes it. Sorry. This isn't anti-Portis. I just think that we gave them more than we had to to get him. We are shot for the draft next spring now.
If the question was more geared to "Who got the better quality player", or "Who got the best 'missing piece' ", then my response would be "time will tell".

The Redskins did, Portis is a great back, We need to forget about the counter trey and just let Clinton do what he does best, Find a hole and run through it.

I was going to say the Skins definitely got the better end of the deal, but I forgot that we also gave up a draft pick. So, given that our secondary is doing quite well and Portis is running wild, I'll give the Skins a slight edge for now. But it's really hard to evaluate until we see what happens with the draft next year.

I think that its really hard to compare an offensive and defensive player without looking at every game for both players. A lot of people I assume are going off of what we see or the lack thereof on sports-center. Defensive players RARELY make it on to the new unless they do something spectacular. I think we should all know that a defense can do a heck of a job and NOT get a lot of publicity, like our defense for example. I dont know how Bailey is doing except for the few national games Ive seen. I'm not exactly sure who got the better deal, I think its too early to tell. Maybe in a couple of years we'll see a bit more clearly.
Actually if I had to make a choice, Denver still got the better trade, they got a good draft pick and a great CB. Regardless if he's shutdown calibur or NOT, he's one of the better CB's. They got him and a pick, we gave too much.

Trung Canidate could not make the plays Portis did. We needed a premiere RB to solidify our offense. We gave away a draft pick, a pretty high one at that. Denver got exactly what they are looking for, and Washington got exactly what we wanted(at the cost of the pick). Denver probably slighty edged over on this one, but it was close.
Good Topic!

Have no fear, Moss will make it happen.
OK take off your bugundy and gold glasses this trade has worked out for everyone. Yes Champ had a bad game and he falls down way to much. However did anybody see Davad Carr last week when asked what was the difference in the game ? He said Champ Bailey...Champ took Andre Johnson completly out of the game. Many would argue that the Broncos are better off becasue of their record.
I will admit now that I like the trade better then I did. I'd still rather have Champ but I had no idea how tough Portis was. Wilbon said it best he played 240. So of the stuff I've seen him do is just off the charts if we had half a team with his desire we'd be undefeated!
