When I got autographs, I was able to meet Vaughn Parker and Ola Kimrin for the first time. Both are very nice. I was able to get Nic Clemons over to sign (he was walking to the parking lot and yelled to me that he would be back later) and then I yelled out "C'mon Nic, your Bulldogs won yesterday!" and then he walked over and signed and told me "you said somethin' about my Bulldogs, so I had to come over."

Then Darnerien came over, and my mom talked to him about his lack of playing time and he said something to her along the lines of "why dont you send in a letter to coach like last time?"

Then, I got home and tried to go to bed at 8 but couldnt fall asleep. Why? I had a big field trip for Monday and had to be at my school by 4 AM. I was going on a trip to Columbia University in Manhattan, New York for journalism seminars. I had a blast. Even though the bus ride up there was 4 hours long, I still had a blast. On the way up, we went through Delaware, the Jersey Turnpike, and finally I got to see the city. It was surreal to me. I took so many pictures. I took pics of the skyline and of the water in Jersey to find dead bodies. Watching the Soprano's will give off that type of rep.

After going to 2 classes, I went with a group of students to an Italtian restaurant. I forgot the name. It was a nice place. But stupid me, I ordered a cheddar burger instead of something good. It was horrible. It was mushy, burnt, and gross. I could only muster eating half of it.
We stayed in the restaurant for a while and so we decided to skip the third class. While leaving the restaurant, I bought a Crunch bar (to get the bad taste out of my mouth) and a NY Post, which said "Bin Loser" on the front.

We ate dinner around 5 at a restaurant called "Harold's" in Edison, New Jersey. While we were there, 3 Jets fans sat to a table next to ours. They appeared to be heading for the game tonight. That was sort of different for me... being in a different team's territory and seeing their fans eat up before the game. (Raven's fans don't really count.) Walking in, we noticed that they had the biggest sandwiches I've ever seen and HUGE cheescakes. I also noticed signed pictures by former Jets d-lineman Marty Lyons and 50 Cent's bodyguard that were framed and hung on the wall by the entrance. The sandwiches were the type of sandwiches you have to split up with 2-4 people. I split a delicious bacon/cheesburger with mushrooms with a classmate and it made up for the horrible burger at the first restauraunt. My table (4 kids) split a nice cheesecake. I only ate the first half of the burger there and finished it on the way home on the tour bus while we were watching "Pirates of the Caribbean" on the TV's in the bus.
All in all, seeing Jersey and going to New York for the first time was a great experience. I loved seeing the Empire State Building and the beutiful NY skyline in person. Jersey looked just like it does on the intro to the Sopranos. Flat land and very industrialized. It was also cool to see all the taxi's and people walking down the street in person because I always see it on TV. And I also see a weird, hobo-looking guy (almost like Morgan Freeman playing the bum in Bruce Almighty) in front of Columbia, holding up a sign and saying "Do you dream of beans? And being late for a semester?"
I have no idea what he meant but it's people like him that make NY great.
I also got to see a NY subway, the area of Riverside Park where Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan made out in "You've Got Mail" next to the Hudson River (according to a kid on the trip who used to live in NY), Newark Airport, and our bus went through the Lincoln Tunnel.
I know this may sound like normal stuff to you New Yorkers/New Jerseyites (<--- is that right?) but it was very cool to me. I only see stuff like this in movies and TV. This will go down as my favorite field trip of all time.
