Morton, Lott to Be Sidelined For Season

Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs said Monday afternoon that the team will be without the services of kick returner Chad Morton and defensive back Andre Lott for the remainder of the season.

Andre Lott
"It's a shame, because both of those guys worked extremely hard this year," Gibbs said the day after his team dropped to 2-5 with an exceptionally frustrating loss to the Green Bay Packers at FedExField.

Morton sustained a knee injury and Lott tore a pectoral muscle against the Packers; both injuries are likely to require surgery. Those two players are expected to be placed on the injured reserve list.

Also on the injury front, LaVar Arrington's knee injury is likely to keep him out for as much as four additional weeks.

Team medical official said the bone bruise suffered by Arrington can't be rushed and that it needs more time to heal.

"We have to be real careful with it and we'll just take it day to day," Gibbs said.

James Thrash and Ladell Betts are expected to take over for Morton on punt and kickoff return duties. In Sunday's game, Thrash returned two punts for an 8.5-yard average and Betts returned two kickoffs for a 28.5-yard average.

Lott had started the Green Bay game for Sean Taylor, who was deactivated. Taylor is expected to return to the lineup this Sunday against Detroit and he would rejoin Ryan Clark, who took over for Matt Bowen earlier this year. Bowen is also out for the year with a knee injury.

Arrington is out for 4 additional games. Well thats great icing on the cake!!!

Sucks for Lott, he has really showcased his talents this year. His stock was rising.

Man, this sucks. I don't really know what to say except that this is a total bummer and I'm very disappointed. Here's to a speedy recovery. -drinking

I think we can add LA to that list. I'd be suprised to see him play this year.
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.
