The NFL will review it but it will be too late...
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Joe Gibbs talked to the refs .... 1 said it was the r-back (taht was Clinton Portis)
The other ref said it was Thrash, but Jie said because of the safety Thrash never released so it couldn't have been him

That is what Gibbs said in his press conference. On the postgame show,

That was an accurate penalty call. It was the most untimely of coincidences of when the ball was snapped in relation to Thrash's motion.
If the snap is a half-second earlier, Thrash is in lateral motion and it's legal.
If the snap is a half-second later, Thrash is set on the line and it's legal.
But JT needed to take that one step forward to establish himself on the line and it's at that exact split-second that the ball is snap and it's illegal.

The commentators said the call was on
ey. They said however, that
ey was not moving and that Thrash was. But they said that Thrash stopped before the ball was snapped. I also heard that the Ref didn't throw his flag until Portis broke for the TD run. You would think that the flag would have been thrown much sooner.

Let us all gather around and drink the
ey-Aid of the Redskins.

The flag was apparently thrown because Thrash was not set for a full second after going into motion on the play. He said he didn't want to comment on the call because he ``didn't know for sure'' if it was the right one.
Gibbs didn't seem satisfied with the explanation the officials gave him.
``They said it was James Thrash,'' said Gibbs, whose team dropped to 2-5. ``I know it wasn't James. He's super-smart and doesn't make mistakes like that. ... It's an absolute mystery to me.''
The Redskins will probably get an oops we blew it from the NFL.
Fire the part time old men refs and hire full time year round refs.

I think it was a bad call. An accurate call can be a bad call. Thrash was not set for at least a second as the rule requires, so the call was accurate. But should the call be made? The rule requres Thrash to have "no motion" for at least a second, which is physically impossible. Technically every single offensive play involves illegal motion, since no human is ever literally motionless. Of course calling illegal motion, because a player blinked would be a bad call.
A reasonable question is how often is illegal motion called in the Thrash situation. I have seen this call made when a player in motion starts up field to early gaining an advantage heading into his route. I don't think I have seen it on a player who drops back to block.
The NFL has attempted and succeeded in creating parity among the teams. This means no team is dominate enough to overcome biased officiating. Good officiating requires consistentcy. If (and it's a big if) the Thrash call is never made, there is a serious problem with the officiating and the integrity of the NFL needs to be investigated.

It was not accurate. We've watched it 30 times on Tivo and the kicker here is that the damned officials threw the flag AFTER the touchedown was scored. So if greenbay had stopped us would they have changed their mind?? What the heck is with that?? It was a call based on something other then what they saw at the line of scrimmage. If not why hold the flag?? It was BS. We watch and Thrash was in the right here.

true, we SHOULD be able to win games regardless of how much the refs stink. but the reality is that we can't. we're not that good. so when the refs DO screw up, it hurts. a lot. just think; if they got this call and the dallas game right, we could be 4-3 right now. for teams such as the skins, who have no margin of error, poor officiating really hurts.
by the way, what no one has mentioned (the commentators included) is how much of an impact that missed field goal had on the game. instead of being down 6 with a few minutes to go, we would have simply needed to get into field goal range to tie it, and hopefully send it into overtime. another case of injuries coming back to bite us.

If we could move the Ball, the refs would not have been a factor.
We simply have to play better on Offense.
