Great job 36! You're 21 and you're caught drinkin and drivin while under head coach, JGibbs.

I just heard that it is very unlikely that JGibbs will allow STaylor play during the Packers game.
JGibbs has to step up and show his team his 'bad side.' He should be very tough on STaylor even though this guy is a rookie. If he doesn't show some anger, the rest of the team's fear of JGibbs WILL deter. I don't think people are afraid of JGibbs but if he lets STaylor slip, it will show that JGibbs is not strict at all.

After watching JGibb's comments on this case, it does not seem that he will let STaylor go. If something like this had happened with one of our weaker players, he would've been cut. For sure.

This type of behavior will not be tolerated. STaylor has to learn that he cannot act like a tough guy and expect to be a legend in the NFL.
However good you are, if you ruin your reputation, you will NOT be appreciated.

He better handle this situation correctly by admitting that this was truly his fault. There better not be any other eye-popping news about this guy.

This is a major dissapointment for this franchise. No one wants your first round pick to be under some fire in his FIRST season.

Like you I am bitterly disappointed in Taylor's immature behavior, and I agree that Coach Gibb's has to deal with him for the good of the team, but don't kid yourself about stupid behavior affecting the legend status of a player. Lawrence Taylor, Ray Lewis, Michael Irvin, Dexter Manley, O.J. Simpson, all come to mind. Besides that Sean Taylor and legend don't even belong in the same sentence, heck, he hasn't even developed into a quality starter, YET.

Though we are short handed at Safety ....I don't think Gibbs will let him dress on Sunday

This kind of behavior will not be tolerated, the team knows this but Sean must be a slow learner.

The staff will deal with this in quick order and there will be a "Core Redskin" that will get him back on track and keep him there. Smoot might be a good person to fill that roll

I think that it's rediculous that Sean Taylor is being benched for Sunday's game. So far ST has been arrested and charged with DUI, but he HASN"T BEEN CONVICTED YET. If, at some point, ST is convicted, then I can understand suspending him. However, until that time he should be presumed innocent just like any other person would. Secondly, I don't see why the Skins want to punish the team for ST's mistake. Our secondary is already thin, and to deplete it further when we're playing against Favre is a big mistake. If anything, fine Taylor his game check and make him play without making any money. Either way he's out some cash and receives a punishment that hurts him and not the entire team.

The most embarrassing part about this is his earrings in his mugshot. They look like Cowboy stars. My lord, do you start acting like a puke just by wearing the stars? Pretty soon, he'll get caught like Michael Irvin, with coke and hookers, but in DC, they'll elect him Mayor.

I read where Philip Daniels was highly critical of Taylor for being out so late before a critical game. He also said that he hopes Taylor will learn from the experience to be a better person. Arrington also said that it's not what happened, but it's how he handles it now. Those two comments sound like it's coming from Joe Gibbs, but are actually coming from two players. It sounds to me like Joe Gibbs philosophy is getting through to the players. If anyone has ever read Joe Gibbs' books, they know about his "being able to handle adversity" is the test of ones character. This could be a positive thing for the Redskins overall, but I think Sean Taylor will suffer for the remainder of the season.

letting a great player go because of a DUI? wow,you're making it sound like getting a DUI is one of the worst things someone can do...people make mistakes and he will learn his lesson from the fines + court costs etc..theres no need to even bring this into the locker room.

I think its stupid that off the field behavior can influence your playing time. I hate the self righteousness of some people. If you don't play cause you missed practice, that is team policy and should be inforced, but not playing cause of something you did outside the realm of the sports world seems intrusive into their lives. We all know you shouldn't be out late partying it up during the season, easy for us to say as we get drunk and watch on tv all week. But lots of players did that throughout their careers, lot at Riggins, he said he had his best practices coming off hangovers. If ST got arrested and still came in for practice, do you think he'd still be benched? I would say yes, and the entire team would be punished for the actions of one. Why, cause someone thinks they can teach him a lesson. If jail time, fines, and a loss of a drivers license doens't affect you. Missing a game won't do much eiher.

That's just plain idiocy. DUI is against the law. Had he hit and killed someone, would THAT be serious enough?
While I think it should be a "come to Jesus" moment in his life, and this is his opportunity to turn himself around, I can't believe you, or the newbie Hurricanes fan would be so completely braindead as to insinuate this is tolerable.
Drunk drivers kill approxamately the same amount of people on our roads in two years the we sustained in the entire course of the Vietnam war. What the H is wrong with you?

doros, it's not because of what Taylor did in his personal life, but it's the fact that he broke a team rule. For that, he has to be disciplined. As the Washington Post noted, Joe Gibbs has only ONE team rule: "Don't embarrass the Redskins or yourself".

What Taylor did would most certainly fall under that category. If that means that it's an intrusion on his personal life, then so be it. If football players don't like that idea, then they shouldn't be playing in the NFL.

Yes DUI is a bad thing, but you need to put this in perspective. Lots of people are arrested for DUI and are punished for it by the criminal justice system. It is premature of the Redskins to suspend or even fine Sean Taylor at this point. What if the charges are dropped or he is found not guilty at trial?? Then there is absolutly no justification for the Skins suspending him. And it's not like he was the only one out that night either. It was Gardner's bday and I bet that a good number of players were out drinking, and ST probably wasn't the only one that drove home. So people need to stop getting on his case until all the facts come out. There's a reason why we have a court system so let it do its job. The coaches should worry more about fixing the offense and less about punishing a player for a crime that he might not have even commited.
