Don't know if this has already circulated, but I found this article to be highly entertaining. I wish I had been watching SNL this past Saturday.

Teen songbird Ashlee Simpson had a microphone malfunction on "Saturday Night Live" last night, scurrying off stage when a production glitch caught her lip-synching the wrong tune.
The pop star, younger sister of singer and TV star Jessica Simpson, sounded great belting out "Pieces of Me" in her first segment on the show. It was the same song that she butchered at August's MTV Music Video Awards, drawing withering reviews for a flat, out of key performance.

But the triumphant moment turned into a debacle when she came out to debut the song "Autobiography" for a second set. But whoever was responsible for piping in a studio-engineered rendition for Simpson to mouth screwed up, playing "Pieces" once again.

The raven-haired beauty hopped around briefly, then slinked off the stage as her hapless band half-heartedly faked away. It didn't take long for critics to vent their rage on Ashlee Simpson's official Web site.

"Finally, you're exposed for the fraud that you are," wrote an E-mail poster named drdrewby minutes after the embarrassing performance. "You have cheated your fans and people who actually thought that you had a lick of talent. You should quit the music business because you are now and always will be a complete and utter joke."

Said CowboyJeff99: "I knew she sounded like crap live, so I was 'wondering' what was going on when her voice sounded just like the radio edit."

When the cast of the live show came out to bid the audience good night, actor Jude Law tried to explain Simpson's slipup.

"What can I say folks, live TV," Law shrugged.

A still-humiliated Simpson apologized to her fans - and blamed her band for playing the wrong song.

I saw it. It was freakin hilarious. She had some nerve to blame the band. At least the band played on. She just ran off stage in utter humiliation.

We saw it and it was quite funny. Of course this confirms what I thought already, that she got her music deal because of who her sister is.

IMO her sister doesn't have much talent either and is only popular because she's hot

Oh well. Singers lip-sync all the time so it doesn't affect my view of her. I didn't listen to her music before and I still don't.

MTV has/had the clip for the viewing on their website. That really has to stink to be in front of the cameras and have a "glitch" like that. Damage control has been raging to try to make everything right. Anyone see her performance on that Radio Awards show last night? How'd it go?

Goes to show that the talent pool is shallow in the music industry. Most of these people have their voices altered in the studio.

yeah, but this was on Saturday Night LIVE... you know... that show where everything is done LIVE. That's the whole freaking point of the show... it's what has always made the show what it was.

You don't get to cheat on SNL... at least in my opinion.

All the spin doctors in the world couldn't put a lick of credibility on this for me.

Hope she handles it better than milli did... or was it Vanilli? :shock:

i don't need any props on that one.

if she had the first bit of talent, she would have picked up the vocals on the song that was being played..... but she doesn't, she knows her voice sucks ass live, so she did the "look at me kick", then pouted off stage while the band played on with an empty spotlight pointing at the floor. flock groupies, and their sisters...
