Portis:..."give me that crack"

Post by SkinsLaVar »

"I was telling the offensive line all week, 'Just give me that crease, give me that crack,'" said Portis, who had his best day since joining the Redskins in an offseason trade with Denver.

"I told them, 'Just block your guys, open it up and I promise I will follow you."'

Portis gained 171 yards on 36 carries, making up for Brunell's 8-for-22 passing for just 95 yards.

Portis created some team turmoil with comments about the Washington offense, and gained just 53 yards last week in a loss to the Ravens. After he'd carried 21 times in the first half Sunday, Portis wanted more.

"I told coach (Joe) Gibbs, 'Do you see my tongue hanging out?' He said, No.' I told him to run me until my tongue did hang out," Portis said. "I want it 8 yards, 10 yards, 12 yards. Pickups like that eventually wear a defense down."

Portis really broke out today!! He showed us why we made the Champ for Portis trade!! Now we just need to start Ramsey and made the rest of the offense can start to click!

When I first saw this I though... 'Oh man, not Michael Irvin Jr.'

Portis breaks out - Step 1.
Taylor gets INT - Step 2.
Defense is a monster - Step 3.
Brunell breaks out - still waiting for Step 4.

We're taking steps towards becoming a good team, folks, but until we get passed Step 4 and Brunell stops making stupid plays/throws (and giving opposing teams all of those TDs), we won't be playoff bound.

Hey the Raven's D took them to the superbowl. Otherwise how do you win games by field goals alone? LOL

I'm hoping that Brunnell gets his stuff together. I loved to see his behavior in the first quarter. He was perfect. We need him to behave like that all of the time. Not just in the first quarter.

But back to Portis. I love his spirit. It got him a few extra yards a few times yesterday. Like when he drug that one guy a few yards. AWESOME.

Anybody see how happy Portis was at the end of the game? That was great to see.
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

SOMETHING MAGICAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!

Uh..we're not playoff bound this year. Yesterday's win wasn't a step by any stretch. The offense continues to be less than adequate and if it wasn't for a QB that is not qualified to start on the practice squad, the skins would be1-5. You can't get 10 to 13 pts/week and expect to have playoff aspirations. I know you are thinking "the Ravens did it!" but their offense didn't help out the opposition as much as Brunell and Co. has helped out the opposition this year. This attitude that "if a play isn't there, throw it away" has got to stop!! For the kind of money they are paying this guy, he HAS to make plays.....period.

I'm proud of Portis, love that guy! But we do have to score points. Ola did his job, but those shoulda been TD's. Brunell continues to match his TD's with Int's for TD's.

Hitdoctor's right. The only way we could even think playoffs, is if the defense scores points. Brunell's got to play what they're paying him.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'd rather be 1-5 than 2-4.

The happier he is, the more confidence we start playing with, the more that ball will get rolling. I can't wait to see Portis consistently running over/by tired defenses in the 4th quarter.

HUH I dont really get this , you have to really look at this and be REAL

Portis breaks out. Yeah he got ran to death he cannot hang, he will end up with a short career to light.

Taylor gets INT. Look who threw it and the situation it was thrown. That play might as well been a HAIL MARY.

Defense is a monster. Yeah I give you that, but teams that can pick up the blitzez have been spanking yall.

Brunell breaks out. Never Brunell is washed up, cannt make certain throw and his body falling apart.
