I'm in TC. Hell, I have been through worse than this before. Several times. I have been a fan since Mike Nixon's last year. Nothing was worse than Redskins of the 60's. (Well, ask Welch that question- the 50s weren't very good either). I remember the first two years I watched the skins we won only two games! Also, in 1981, after 5 games we were 0-5 and averaged only 15.4 points vs. 14 this year. And we scored 30 points in one of those games too (hey, we had the Cardinals in our division then), so the 15.4 is kinda overstated.

This is nothing. Gibbs will figure it out. Trust in Him.
I am in a state of ecstasy! Never mind that nonsense about euphoria and so on. It is sheer, unadulterated, uncompromising ecstasy!

I'm a bandwagoner. I thought Gibbs was going to take us to the SB this year. I spent 200 dollars on redskin clothes in January. I'm going to sell all my redskin clothes and become a Patriot fan.

Just kidding. I was born and raised a Redskin fan and will die that way.
Let us all gather around and drink the Cooley-Aid of the Redskins.

Big Ed from Down South, the game that is etched in my mind is the 1979 December game against the pukes thats when I fell in love with the skins and started hating the pukes. Timmy Smith played HS ball 2 hours from where I grew up in Southern NM. I am a die hard

Well, I suppose I'll reply to this thread. I too, feel it's a little silly, but I'm typing anyway.

I became a Redskins fan back in the early '80's. At that time, I lived in Utah. Obviously there is no professional team there, so I picked one. Why not pick a good one? Before that, I was just a fan of football in general.

Since those days, I have moved all over the country and stayed true to my team/pick. I have seen some very good years as well as some very bad. I have stayed nonetheless.

Some people don't take me for a serious fan because of my username. Sorry about YOUR luck. That man is/was one HELL of a baller. It's just too bad he decided that he was tired of putting it out there and losing anyway. I don't blame him at all. I am a Bailey fan, but that nowhere near overrides my being a Skins fan. I have a Bailey, Ramsey, and now Taylor jersey: all bought this year. Before that, I never had the courage to spend that kind of $$ for a shirt. With Gibbs back, I felt that I owed this team. I havae always had other Redskins paraphanalia, but decided te time had come for the jersy purchase.

I always watch tem on television, though had never made it to see them in person. UNTIL THE GAME AGAINST THE BROWNS!!! I was just very disappointed in their performance for my first time. Nothing like being harassed and called "Jean Binet" throughout the entire game (as I was wearing the aforementioned Ramsey jersey.)

As a matter of fact, I haven't totally converted my parents into being Skins fans, but close. They are still pretty much just fans of football, but pay MUCH more attention to this wonderful team of ours.
Since the day I decided to become a fan of this great and storied franchise, I have stayed with them. The good time HAVE to return someday...and I feel that day approaching.

Craig, 34 in Ohio

Wow !
I'm glad that a good majority of the posters here understood what I was trying to do by starting this thread.
Those who were offended, hey. At least I made you think about it. I'm happy for a reaction, either way. It brings a lot to the surface, doesn't it ?
Oh, and GF ? You're working too hard on this. Not everything has a hidden meaning.
Just so you know, though...I'm not offended by your reaction. Clearly, you misunderstood my intent. I'm not the greatest in the world at writing. In fact, my specialty is taking small ideas and putting them into 1,000+ word posts.
Now, are we cool or do we have to have a go here ?

I've been a Redskin fan for 35 years. I know who is the greatest coach in Redskin history. We have that man back on the sidelines right now. Shame on anyone that doesen't beleive in Joe Gibbs. This man turns everything he touches into a winner. He will right the ship. Keep the faith guys!

I'm one of the 57 or so Scotts on the staff here and of course am a diehard fan - depressed as of late, but still a diehard.

Looking for the team to have a strong second half of the season with something solid to build on for next year.

A fan since 1970 with the over-the-hill gang and a fan until death do us apart. In fact, I still will be cheering up wherever I end up at that time.

I am an Art Monk fan, always will be. I hate discrimination of any kind, whether subtle or blatant, whether hidden or open. I am a believer in a great work ethic. He was a class act as a player. He is today a class act as an individual.

I have been educating my children at times with Joe Gibbs' anecdotes while they grow up. Stories about a humble man who truly believes that hard work and intelligence will always be rewarded. Stories about players who did not find themselves or would not have amounted to much if they had not found the right leaders and coaches.

After 34 years as a fan, my lowest point came -this- season with the game against the Giants. I was in NY. One play changed the game. I re-learned my lesson: success is not automatic. It never was.

I search in the game and the team for lessons that are larger than the game itself. I look for lessons that can be applied in the rest of our lives to become better persons. I guess I look for the qualities that make us "core" Redskins players and "core" Redskins fans.

Yes, it is a game and a team for many. Just not for me.

Thank you for this thread. I like the psychological aspect of it. If the team must come together, so must the fans. We are together, staff, players and fans on this fight.

Thank you all for your contributions to this board. It is an intelligent and informed board for the most part, which is an exception rather than a rule in the internet. Thanks to all the organisers and moderators. I could say thanks in a number of languages but I will stick to English for now.

Here we go NFL, get ready for the rest of the season!

Through thick and thin,
ALWAYS A REDSKIN!!!

Coming together

No, it is not about any up-manship of any kind.

It is about coming together as fans and getting to know more about why we are -core- Redskin fans.

GF: I am beginning to think that you may be an Eagles fan -but- you certainly hold a certain fascination for our coaches, team and fans... mmmmmm.

I am not a psychiatrist because I am not, but if I was ...

No, I will not make a judgment at this time.

I'll always be a diehard Skins fan - and I've been through a lot more than what these last 4 games have brought. To make me jump ship (or the bandwagon) it would take something totally calamitous (like naming Ramsey the starting QB  )...where oh where is George Izo or Cary Conklin now that we need them?

Even if the Redskins don't win another game for the next 40 years, I will still be a Redskin fan.
If they're your team, then they are YOUR team. Doesn't matter what the record is. It will just make us enjoy it even more when the do turn it around. And they will.

I've been a Die Hard Redskin Fan all my life but I'm not on any list, bandwagon, or been "counted in" or any of that. The Skins are a part of me, their onfield/offfield performance really doesn't matter.
I'm a HOMER and I'm in FL. I'll defend this team regardless of the situation. I've been a Skins fan since I figured out what it was the my dad was so crazy about, once I figured it out it made me Crazy.
My co-workers have been asking me why I've been wear Skins gear all week although we are 1-4, I've responded when is it better to support your team...when everyone loves them or when no-one wants to admit that they like them.
W-L record doesn't matter with this Team.
I'm B.W. Marshall II and just like B.W. Marshall Sr. I'll be a loyal, unwavering, died in the wool, DIE-HARD REDSKIN FAN until the end of time because when I'm dead and gone those that have met me will remember me as that.
I haven't posted here since Monday due to the bashing that comes with a loss, so I stayed away this week.
TC thanks for the thread, it lets me know I didn't have to be gone

I'm your huckleberry, Niksder.
Thanks to everyone for the PM's. The response has been outstanding. In an effort to remind my brethren why they root for this team at all, my brethren have reminded me why I do.
I thank my lucky stars for Mark Solway and his staff.
They make it all go.

I'm 12 years old. I live in Spokane Washington. If you've never heard of it, it's about 3000 miles from RFK. My stepdad, whom I can't fricking stand is a Pukes and Seachickens fan. Mainly a Pukes fan. What is this football thing anyway? Well I suppose since we watch it every week, I may as well pick a team. Gotta be somebody that plays in the same division as the Pukes. The Eagles just made the superbowl. Awesome, Jaworski, Montgomery, Carmichael. I love these guys. Uh oh. They lost. Uh oh, they didn't make the Superbowl this time. I think I'll try the Redskins. My stepdad really seems to hate them...hehehe...

Hmm, lost to the the pukes early december. Were still doing pretty good though, and dad is really starting to hate them. oh crap, pukes and skins in the game before the superbowl. Man, this is really gonna suck if dads team beats us. He'll really pour it on =(

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! We smoked em 31-17!!!!!!

holy crap! we just won the superbowl =)

I think I like these guys. Mebbe I'll stick with them awhile. Well it's been 20 some odd years now. I saw an average of 2 or 3 games a year, barring playoffs for about 16 years. I've never see a redskins game in person, and have now watched every single game for 5 years now. I even used to record the games for a guy on another list and mail them to him in australia. I may never get to attend a game now that they don't play seattle every other year, but I will always be a washington redskins fan regardless of production, potential and ownership. The Redskins are the best team to root for, and they have the best fans of any team in any sport. All class, all the way. Skins for life, and Gibbs for president!!!
