JP and I have had our differences, but, I have to agree with ALMOST everything he said. Main point-STICKING WITH YOUR TEAM, REGARDSLESS! Screw the rest of the world, I'm wearing burgundy and gold-and this is where you see who has your back in the middle of an angry barroom....In the past I've given great respect (and more than a round or two) to Saints fans. Losing like crazy, not even a smidgeon of hope, yet there they are, in their aints gear, cheering away. God Bless 'em, every one.
This organization, and THIS TEAM. deserve that from everyone who wants to call themselves a skins fan. That simple, man.
We can bitch collectively about this and that, but, you want to mope mouth, get your shisbut, and hit the door, you weren't really a skins fan to begin with, Other bandwagons are welcoming you. Get you some Pats gear and paint yourself blue for all I care.
HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!
HAIL VICTORY!!!!!!!!

Going further on down the chain, there was a Lord Fairfax that settled in Northern Virginia. BTW: They were all Redskins fans. Currently, I work for the Federal Government , which operates all around the country. My current duty requires me to live in Boston, Mass. Therefore, while living in Boston, MA and not being from there, I can not claim them as my "HOME" team. homer - routes for the home team (your location has boston)

Man we never agree, in my definition a homer would change teams when you move, as in you moving to mass. Hence the pats reference, I think I came up with the homer definition in my mind by living in springfield almost all my life and seeing the transient population come in here, back the skins since they are the "home team" I think this is part of the problem with skins games now adays. Some years of losing and the population stopped being fans since its only fun to route for winning team. The first two home games were all skins, the "homers" as I call them, showed up to see gibbs, not the skins, now that they are down, a flood of purple invaded fedex, I'm scared to see the number of cheese heads that have found home in the dc area, even worse will be the philly game, I'm sick of "homers" selling their tickets to opposing teams and changing the dynamics of the crowds influence on the games. By taking away your homer status, I was giving you a compliment in my mind, and as I said before, we never agree, so even in complimenting you, we disagree.

I guess you all have found out that I was not around when JGibbs was a coach during the 'glory-days.' So, I do not REALLY know of his history. I know this guy is a hell of a worker. I met him at training camp and he seemed to be a GREAT guy. Of course he is working hard. He's probably the only coach who tries so hard for his team. THE THING IS THAT THIS TEAM IS NOT GOING TO BOUNCE AND START WINNING GAMES LIKE THE PATRIOTS. It is IMPOSSIBLE even with the best coach in the league coaching.THIS SEASON IS OVER. The main thing is this: we HAVE to get a QB this offseason. A QB that is capable of actually doing things. A QB who will score a TD when he is given the ball with great field position from his defense. A quarterback who will NOT take the team down the field and get us a FG.
Look how many times the Colts, Packers, and Patriots can score TDs in one game! For us, it is a miracle if we score two or more touchdowns in ONE game!
We need to get a Offense set up. After that, we will be great.

hatsOFF; You will see the team play better when all the parts start to gel together. What is happening on the offensive side is not so much due to the QB (or lack thereof!) as the group has not played well together (IMO) for a complete game.
I wonder if just changing for Ramsey at this time, with the line (and the backs!) not blocking well. I think we just need to give this group more time AND get everyone giving max effort.
Gibbs, Breaux et al will adapt to what is happening and we will see the effect. I am also anxious to see us playing as a the team we deserve BUT this is going to take more than a few weeks into the season.
I'll say it again - we need to be patient and watch what happens when we play as we are capable of.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Yes it is tough having your heart ripped out each week watching your beloved team lose yet again in a frustratingly similar manner to the week before. But we are all there week in and week out. We definitely reserve the right to moan and complain when they lose but we've gotta support them game day. The players care and they are the ones that feel the worst. Eventually they will come together. Half the roster was turned over this year with a new philosophy instituted yet again. It is painful to watch the process but as fans we can't give up on our team. That's what being a fan means: supporting your team through the ups and downs. Unfortunately there has been alot of downs. In the middle of losing it last night (the punt return) my wife (not a big football fan, unfortunately
) asked me why I was continuing to put myself through the obvious pain of watching the Skins fall apart. My answer delivered with a incredulous look at the "obvious absurdity" of the question: "They are my team."
I am hopeful that all of this pain will make the return to glory all the more sweet. And I will be able, with all truthfulness, to say: "I've been with em through the lean years." Hail Skins! (and oh the pain...it hurts!)

And in the process, the team can count on all of those raedy to do their work as fans, right?
Right???
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

JPFair, yes yes yes!!! You rock man. Basically put what many of us are feeling into words. I understand frustration. I've been a skins fan thru the good and the recently bad times. I never experienced losing until Gibbs retired. Let me tell you, that was a new feeling. I've grown so used to losing that I have no hope for upcoming seasons, so it doesn't hurt too bad when we don't do anything. That being said, my expectations for this season were high, because of you know who =)
It hasn't started off the way all of us had hoped. Yeah, it sucks, but the fact remains, we are better than we've been in a decade. We are better than the one playoff team we had. We are 1 or 2 plays a game away from being 4-1, possibly 5-0. Our offense sucks, and we still are that close to being undefeated. Gibbs is slowly rebuilding this teams identity. It just hasn't shown up in the win-loss column yet. It will though.
To those of you who are sick of it, can't handle the losing any longer or are just plain quitting on the team, feel free to quit watching. But if you do, your going to miss the moment. It will change, and if you leave, your going to miss out on it.The game has changed some, Gibbs IS rusty, we don't have the HOGS, yet!, and Brunell is nowhere near the QB Gibbs thought he was getting. These are the main reasons we are 1-4. It will likely not switch in the next few games even. But I know it will switch. Gibbs and co. will figure it out. And it will happen this season. We have the people, the ability, and the coaches. Just need to work the quirks out, get used to playing mistake free football, and get the right guys in there. It's coming....
One note about PRam. All you guys keep talking about PRams interceptions. Most of you are now willing to give PRam a chance. That's good, it's what I've wanted for awhile. I just can't figure out where all this interception talk is coming from. This guy learned to play deer in the headlights football, and obviously is still showing some of that effect, and yet, his career stats are 24 TDs and 20 Ints, even with the 3 Int game this season. He had 14 TDs with 9 Ints last season while being smacked around every other play and sacked 30 times!!! He's been sacked 51 times in 22 games and only started 16 of those games. Of course I don't know how much, but I know a lot of his sacks were from sheer pressure and not his fault.
Ramsey is a great QB in the making. Yes, he needs to learn a few things. He needs to learn checkdowns(hence his low completion %, although some of that is spurrier's faul't), he needs to keep improving his feet, he needs to learn to throw the ball away, and he needs to gain much more confidence in his real ability. He will get there. Gibbs kept Ramsey because he can see it all underneath PRams skin. Otherwise he would have released him or traded him. There were plenty of suitors, trust me.
This will all be figured out as the season goes on, and the Skins are well on their way back to greatness!!!!
Go Skins, and Go Joe!!!!!

Hey, guess what? your heart DOES get ripped out. Remember that AWFUL thanksgiving and Clint Longley and Drew Pearson (allright son's a guns NOW we see who's been where for how long).....remember the season we had SIX of twelve games decides in overtime or the last MINUTE of the game?
HAPPENS......in every team's history. This one, however, is one of the most storied, and gloried, and for that, I LOVE 'em. win lose or draw, burgundy and gold's in my bedroom, my office, and it's on my car. I'm also a gator fan, so alot of nimrods think those are assh...err....seminole colors...ehh....screw 'em. They don't know better, and they have no idea of class when they see it.
MOST expensive and valued team in the THE WORLD (Forbes) what else need be said?

Nice post Scottskins. I totally agree with JPFair, also.
It's understandable to be frustrated. It's not acceptable to quit on your team or bash our HOF coach. It is ignorant to call radio shows and bash the Skins when you know some of them listen. They need our support. If the team starts dividing the way some on this site are....the season and beyond don't look good.
Everyone needs to keep in mind that the Rams, Chiefs, Vikings and Steelers offenses are variations of Gibbs' system. All of them are consistently in the top ten. Obviously, they have evolved over the years and our offense isn't producing like theirs are. Gibbs will make the necessary adjustments and we will improve. It's not going to happen overnight.
When Vermeil returned to coach the Rams after 14 years away, he won like 7 games in his first two years and then won the SB in his third. When he took over the Chiefs it took a couple years to get them rolling.
Considering the Redskins history in the last 12 years, I would say it will take some time to get things turned around. It's one thing to have alot of great 'talent' and another to have a great 'team'.
Regardless, I will be cheering the B&G every week. There is something to the old saying "It will get worse, before it gets better". If you can't handle it...get back OFF the bandwagon and get back ON the short bus.

I trusted JGibbs for a winning season but at this point, I'm thinking about that...I guess HE has been out of the season too long. We have a great defense, an okay special teams, but NO offense. None at all.
Put Ramsey in? I don't care. Do whatever the hell you want beacause you know that he's not going to do any better. The Broncos have clearly beat us with the trade of Champ and Portis. Right now, Portis sucks. He has gotten 50 some yards in two games straight and coughed up the ball FOUR times.
It is just too frustrating to watch them. Just too depressing. Look at the rest of our season:
Bears: Loss
Packers: Loss
Lions: Chance of win
Bengals: Chance of win
Eagles: Loss for sure
Steelers: Chance of win
Giants: Loss
Eagles: Loss for sure
49ers: Win
Cowboys: Loss
Vikings: Loss
I'm packing up my hopes for the redskins until next year. I know all of ya'll are gonna bash this post or just ignore it but face it: It is over guys. I'm sorry to tell you but we cannot keep on hoping and pretending that JGibbs will turn this team over week after week.
Some 'fans' are telling JGibbs to leave Washington and go back to the races. Some actually want Spurrier back. Some want Snyder to sell the franchise and go kill himself. It's a sad time to be a redskin devotee.
Again, I pray that JGibbs keeps his cool and does not over-react.

give him time
of course it looks bad right now. but who's fault is it really? i would definitely says it Daniel Snyder's. Do you realize that we've had 5 coaches in 6 years. How is a coach suppose to develop a team, which takes at least 2-3 years, when he is going to be fired if he loses a game. Gibbs just needs time. He'll figure out how to do this the way HE does it. He also needs some new players to fit his type of offense. My guess is that he'll probably re-adjust his type of offense b/c of having a running back like Portis. Portis is not a power rb, but rb that needs more blocking than what the o-line is giving. I am glad we've got Gibbs...we just need to put a little trust in him.

I remember that game. 1974. Awful. I can remember jumping up and down because we knocked Staubach out so I knew we would win.
Unfortunately, I can remember a few more games like that as well.
Have faith. Gibbs will figure it out.
I am in a state of ecstasy! Never mind that nonsense about euphoria and so on. It is sheer, unadulterated, uncompromising ecstasy!

I never said that JGibbs won't turn this team around. I Just said that he would not turn it to a good team this season!!!!!!! Damn!
Okay! I think that this team is close to being considered a good team right now. We already have a VERY good defense and IMO we have the players and the coaches to be in the top 10 soon. I am not saying we will be very good BUT there are not many very good teams right now.
That being said I'm also sure we are only a couple of better players at certain positions from being a very good team for a number of years. I also think that Dan will keep this chemistry going - we all learn from our mistakes and he has made his share.

Re: JGibbs and future of the 'REDskins'
Wow, I have no idea how you came up with this list!
The Bears are not very good and Grossman is out for the season. This is DEFINATELY a possible win.
They have not performed at all since their first game. The D is TERRIBLE and they are underachieving as much as we are. They lost to the Bears as well. This is another very possible win.
This team is better than the Bears and Packers. This game will be very tough.
You never know if this team will be awesome or terrible. Definately better than they were two years ago but at this point Palmer still lacks experience.
May have to agree with you there.
At this point one of the best teams in the league. Roethesburger and Staley have been amazing! Tough game.
I disagree on the Cowboys and Giants. Basically, the only team that I think we have little chance of beating is Philly. This list and your predictions just show how quickly things can change in the NFL. Bottom line, we've been in every game so far. The offense will get better. You seem to be saying that we will be 5-11 at best looking at your list. I doubt that, our defense is too good and Joe needs a little time to figure things out. It may sound crazy but I'm still sticking with 8-8. I say we lose to Philly twice, the Vikings and the Steelers. And just remember, any given Sunday.
