My Take on things

Post by ArmyHog »

I read this board daily and watch the games as much as I can over here (I was up at 0230 last night watching the game) and follow the team on the internet. I have seen a lot of negative posts and I have seen a lot of good posts.....this is my take on OUR Skins...

Right now everything is not clicking...as you can well see. I don't think that all the blame should go on 1 person (Portis and/or Brunell). If one area is not working then that hurts the team. If MORE than one area is not working that KILLS the team...which is what we are seeing now. Yes, Brunell needs some work, but I will still take my chances with him rather than seeing Ramsey play pitch and catch with the opposing defense. Our QB is not clicking so that affects the running game. Our running game is not working so that hurts our passing game. In all honesty, the WR's have not made the most of all their chances...what few they get. They all go hand in hand. All of this then dumps on our D'. Hell, I had would be tired by the 3rd QTR too if I was on the field that much. Nothing more can be asked of them. The Redskins can't function until everything supports itself. Once it does, we will be blowing teams off the field.

Hell, our ARMY can't be successful without all parts clicking...a bad analogy I know.

To those who are jumping off the bandwagon (please don't pull a hamstring while you do) and bashing the Skins...go ahead on. We will see you win this thing turns around....cause it will.

To those who haven't seen the good ol' days...it will be worth the wait...believe me.

I'm not blaming Brunell for the problems, but I'm starting to get more angry that Ramsey isn't playing. We have a third year first round draft pick with a cannon for an arm. Let him freaking play.

Brunell isn't scaring ANYBODY at this point. I can't believe that we're paying him this much money. The Brunell situation totally represents why the Redskins have SUCKED for twelve years by trying to buy success while other teams have drafted young guys and allowed them to learn and grow.

Is it Brunell, the WR's or the plays?

Whether you want to blame Brunell or not, one thing is perfectly clear. The lack of down-field passing is the problem. No RB can get through 9 defenders.

Brunell threw the ball 29 times. Only one was for more than 10 yds. ONE! That means Gibbs is calling s&*# plays, the WR's can't get open, or Brunell can't through the ball further than 12 yds accurately.

The line is playing fine. When Brunell is getting sacked it's normaly because he's sitting back there all night trying to decide who to throw to, or the RB isn't picking up the blitzing corner.

So here it is folks, either our WR's suck at getting open down field one-on-one, our QB sucks at any pass beyond the line of scrimmage or Gibbs is calling plays where the primary receiver is the running back.

BTW: To those who are allways crying about people jumping off the bandwagon, I've been a skins fan for 35 years. I reserve the right to bitch about them all I want. I've never rooted against them and never will, but I will complaign. We need to stick together and be hopeful crap is exactly that. Just like holding the other team to 3 offensive points and loosing.

I think you can discount Gibbs, regards actual play calling. Brunell has the choice of pass routes to hook onto. Unless all the pass routes in a play are 10 yards or less, Gibbs is not to blame. I did not see the game on Sunday, so I would be interetsed to know if the WR were getting open. [/quote]
