Since when did Joe Gibbs offense become a horizontal passing game? Brunell is showing a lot of heart and a real desire to win, and it looks to me like his mid-range throws have plenty of zip, so I'm wondering is our play calling an adjustment to Mark's lack of arm strength, or are we just afraid to be aggressive? Is Joe protecting Mark with this dink & dump play calling? I like Brunell more than I thought I would, he has shown a lot of guts and made some good decisions with the ball, but I'll say it one more time, if we continue this style of play calling we'll never see anything but 8+ in the box and the Portis deal will never come to fruition. If Brunell can throw the ball down the field DO IT! If he can't give Ramsey a shot.

So far this season our play calling has been along the lines of "playing not to lose" instead of "playing to win" I think the conservative play calling is largely an attempt to protect Brunell. I would like some feedback on whether or not the receivers are open, you really can't see on television. If they're not getting open I may have to retract all of my amateur observations.

Brunell is my guy. I agree 100% also, if he can't get the ball down field then replace him.

I also know from watching him and Jimmy Smith throughout the years...He can get the ball downfield!

What I have been able to see on TV (about 50%) the WRs are not open in the obvious pass situations. Not sure why, lack of speed, max protection leaving double coverage, play calling?

It's not working due to the opposing teams knowning exactly what we're doing. Time to throw in another playbook.
Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines.

I'm beginning to wonder if the players are getting frustrated with the playcalling. If you look at one of the articles at the wpost today, two of the receivers said they liked it when Brunell was calling the plays at the line. They both said they felt like things went better then and they were easily able to move the ball but for some reason it was decided that we needed to get away from that.

Okay, their comments concern me a little even if they're correct. I think we need all the players behind the OC (basically Gibbs) 100% and their comments make me think they're starting to have doubts about the play calling.

Anyway, I hope this isn't the case and that they don't start having internal issues over this sort of thing.
