Brunelll

Post by jim2044 »

I honestly believe that we are in trouble as long as Brunell is trying to lead this team. If he cant perform against 41 yr old QBs, how on earth is he going to handle the Mannings...?
I am surprised that Gibbs dont give Pat at least a shot?

I have to agree, Brunell seems slow and doesn't see the entire field. He does not have the arm strength to put the ball accurately down the field or "thread the needle" in tight coverage.

With all due respect, but your'e thinking only with your like for Ramsey. As long as Brunell is healthy, Ramsey is not going to play. There's no reason to be "surprised" that Ramsey isn't being given a shot. He played horribly in pre-season, and the decision was made to start Brunell. Gibbs is NOT going to reverse the decision so early in the year. Also, with referance to your comment above: Since when does Brunell compete against "41 yr old QB's"? and when will HE have to handle the "Mannings"? Isn't it opposing defenses that handle the QB's?

Brunell may not have the arm that Ramsey has...but he won't make the same mistakes Ramsey will, either. If Ramsey played today's game, he probably would have thrown 2 INTs instead of throwing the ball away like Brunell did. I say give him 2-3 more weeks.

JP your right on...the Skins are still learning Gibbs' system...Brunell still gives us the best chance to win.

Brunell is terrible. I was at the game and could tell you who he was going to throw to BEFORE the snap or VERY shortly thereafter. He doesn't look anyone off. I was sickened by what I saw. Not a very good first impression as this was the first time I've seen our skins in person. I bitched about Brunell the entire game. We need our future in there since our present can't preform. They lost to the BROWNS!!! The Browns are terrible. Nicely done Skins...I am soooooo proud. YOU SUCK!

I know I'm gonna catch some flak for saying this, but for those who claim that Brunell gives us our best opportunity to win is looking for the "right now," instead of building a franchise. For those who claim that Brunell does this, and Patrick does that...when do we stop making excuses. The offense needs a spark...and Brunell needs to be pushed. Fine, you wanna give Brunell a couple more weeks to see what he can do...I can live with that. But by mid-season if we're still performing offensively "and I mean that literally and figuratively" then we have to make a change towards our future. If by the end of the season, Ramsey can't get it done, then we go shopping with our first rounder or the draft. Someone said in another post that Joe has had to adapt this year and has done some things that he wouldn't normally do. So don't think for a minute that he has some unperishable love for Brunell that will keep him in the pocket. After all, this is still a business...

Ok I'm not completely educated in the ways of the QB but there was one play that ticked me off. Brunnell was wide open no one around him. THe O line protected him very well. So he running out of the pocket ahead of him, NOTHING, he takes a few steps, no one is open, so he chucks the ball. He easily could have picked up 5 yards he didn't even attempt to. Why the heck not?? I just didn't get that. Why throw the ball away when you could pick up a few yards instead.

Niki,

I dont' think it would be fair to say that Brunell would have gained a few yards. We don't know what he saw in front of him. We don't know what his coaches have instructed him to do in those situations. We just dont' know. I doubt Ramsey would have done either of those options. Personally, I think Ramsey would have been inclined to throw the ball downfield and hope for someone to get it. But, in all likelihood, it would have bee intercepted.

If we come to the point where we absolutly have NO shot at the playoffs, we should throw Ramsey in and see how he does. The way I feel, I think we should trade Ramsey for a draft pick. I think we should look for a QB in next years draft. I wish we could of drafted Phillip Rivers.
Let us all gather around and drink the Cooley-Aid of the Redskins.
