Moving on to next weekend.....

Post by Justice Hog »

With today's loss (which is absolutely huge), there will be many people calling for Brunell's head, I'm sure. I don't consider myself one of them.......however.

It is certainly obvious to me that the Redskins offense needs some sort of spark. They are simply not getting it done. Here is what I would like the Skins to do for next weekend's game:

1) Start Patrick Ramsey [hey, it couldn't be any worse....and it might spark the offense]

2) Start McCants as our 3rd receiver [this guy pulls in TD after TD and without him, we are losing a big scoring threat]

3) Play Barrow on IR [enough is enough already. Let's use his roster spot for someone who can actually play!]

4) Activate Rock Cartwright [we need a power back in there that will score from the 1 yard line]

As I said after the first game this season, it's obvious to me that Brunell's arm isn't good enough for Gibb's system. His arm isn't scaring the defenses - and that's a large part of the reason their running game is sputtering.

Not to question Gibbs offense but teams in the last 12 years have taken from his offense and made it better. I cant stand seeing Portis run slow behind slow offensive linemen. Hell, go to Denvers playbook and see what made him who he is and throw that in there.

I do think Brunell is better at not making many mistakes and will throw the ball away, but Ramsey just takes more chances and we move the ball.

You can put 8 in the box and control our offense. Teams stay there, cause all we do is dump offs and go down field three times a game. It also hurts when we drop balls.

Joe is getting the feel for what defenses do to our offenses. We will be 8-8 it we are lucky.

Its also funny that any time you see Ramsey warming up, Brunell comes out like "Superman."

I sure do wish he was warming up this game

I don't think Brunell is the problem. If Portis is going to fumble in every game in the other team's red zone, we're going to give up points. Coles isn't having his best year. We burn our time outs doing stupid crap like we did last year with Ramsey calling all those audibles. I don't know if we're running Portis the wrong way or what, but the bottom line is our offense stinks. Maybe Gibbs should hire an offensive coordinator so he can focus on the job as head coach. Maybe Gibbs is carrying too much weight in this organization. He's the team president, offensive coordinator, and the head coach. That's a lot of weight to carry.
Let us all gather around and drink the Cooley-Aid of the Redskins.

1) Start Patrick Ramsey
What do we have to lose and he gives us a downfield option

2) Start McCants as our 3rd receiver
I agree the defense will have to account for him when he is on the field

3) Play Barrow on IR
Needs to be done ASAP

4) Activate Rock Cartwright
This would help in the redzone where Portis not built to operate

I agree with all 4 sugestions JH. I hope they are made soon

I want to know why our tackles can't seal off their men when we run a sweep? Even when we try running Portis to the outside, the D just follows him. I saw Samuels fail miserably to do this at least twice. We are not utilising Portis's best attribute, his speed, at all.

Like I said in my opinion the o-line is the biggest problm on O. I know Samuels is playing with a chip on his shoulder..he has a good game against Tampa (we won go figure?) outside of that I haven't seen much?

Although our offense stinks.... I don't think we can point the finger at one person.... and I believe it stinks not because we don't have the talent... I believe it stinks because we're not playing smart...

What I'd like to see next week is a different offense approach... everyone it seems comes in to stop Portis... I keep seeing 7 and 8 men in the box... we are too predictable.... The opposing defense knows we're trying to run the ball... and we do that to set up the pass... They want Brunell to have to throw... so instead of setting up the run to pass... I think we need to pass to set up the run.... get those LB on their heels.... if we come out firing... more lanes will open up for Portis.... then as long as he can hang on to the ball... he'll do what we pay him to do...

Although I like our line, they're not great enough to just pound the ball against a decent defense if we can't keep that defense guessing...

Our defense is doing it's job and keeping us in games....they do give a big play up from time to time... but were we really expecting our D to be this good (especially with the injuries we've had on that side of the ball)... I think their doing a great job.... and if the Offense could just score over 20 points (no where near an impossible feat).... then we'd be 4-0... ;)

Our defense is great

Post by Redskin in Canada »

I take my hat off to our defense. They have done a great job consistently game in and game out this season.

We need to let them know how much we appreciate their effort notwithstanding the difficult situations in which you have been placed at times...

Still think I was off base by saying Ramsey was being screwed?

That's what it's all about. We have four good recievers, why not use that to an advantage?
