Why the Boys own us now/ But not the Future

Post by DEHog »

Ok I’m sick and tired of hearing about 1 and 14... how the Cowboys own us and every other thing you want to say to us. To the Boys fans who just showed up this week (you know who you are ) get lost, I’d tell you to run, but you have no running game! See ya in December. There's really only one reason, in my mind, why we have had such a hard time beating the boys or anyone for that matter. Think about the last 6 years, what's been the one constant with the Skins? The answer….change. Someone explain to me how a team is suppose to gain any consistency with a revolving door in the coaches office at Redskins Park?

To my Redskins brothers please be patient, we now have in Coach Gibbs a coach who will right the ship. Please no comparisons to the last 11 years! Yes we have and will continue to struggle in spots. But it’s only been 3 games, Gibbs will study film and get things fixed. It’s one thing to look at players on film under the Spurrier system than it is to look at them this year under his system. I for one saw a lot of positives last night, the Skins were looking for a way to win ,instead of a way not to lose! When you showed up for work today did you find a gloating boys fan or did you find one who said (as I did) we were lucky to win last night. They know, things are getting ready to change!!

STAY WITH THE TEAM! Better times are ahead…Gibss will see to it. Give Gibbs a push this year, of course I’m not saying we can't win this year. After last night and the first three week, I actually think we can compete for a wild card…who else in the NFC is going to compete?? The Skins chances are better than most, it’s really wide open. While I realize a lost to the Boys hurts, let’s see how this thing plays out before we start question Gibbs and making comparison to the last few years HAIL TO THE REDSKIN!!

I could not agree more.

I made the mistake to believe that the season wold start as if it was 1994. It is not. Change does not happen as if it was the TV remote control.

I am happy with our team and pledge to support it rain or shine! I believe in them.

Primetime42 just doesn't get it. It's not wishful thinking, dude. Consistency for the Redskins will bring back winning. There is nothing "wishful" about that.

Remember, it wasn't too long ago before your team was puttin' up 5-10 numbers on a consistent basis....or did you forget that already?

This isn;t about winning records, apparently.

Just read the title of this thread...

you guys never learn...5-11 for 3 years, yep...and it was under a guy affectionately remembered as 'Bozo' but as bad as Bozo was, he and Chan Gailey effectively owned this franchise.

THAT's what this thread is really all about, and sadly, until the tide turns, that will be all you really have to look forward to.

Really the thread is about 'why" you have owned us during the 1-13 period it's one thing to have 5 different head coaches and another to have 5 different coaching staffs.

You guys have kept your steff while changing head coaches, which were already on staff. We brought in whole new staffs with whole new systems.

My point is this staff and system are going to be here for more than 2 years...Your right until we win it mean nothing...notice I said win not beat the Cowbays I'll take playoffs over beating you guys anyday of the week...but not to worry we'll throw in a W over you guys as well...enjoy it ahile you can my man...I'm statring a new stat Gibbs 0-1 vs. Boys!

DEHog, that was very well put and I thank you for also trying to help some facetious pie fans. As JPF points out our time will come and sooner not later, patience!

I also was intrigued by the stats that ABC pointed out that while the TX pukes have a better head to head results their record for the same period against other teams over that period is far worse than ours AND those were some really sorry Redskins teams that stats show were the better teams.

They won this (for the record books) BUT we were a lot better team than we have been and I appreciate your post.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

on the same subject, "dr z" on cnnsi has put the cowboys in the top ten of th power rankings this week. obviously he's out of his mind, but seriously, the cowboys do not belong there. i'll admit they're better than the skins right now... but not that much better. they were very lucky to pull that game out.

I hate to break the news gentlemen...you guys has better win the SB this year or next because its gonna be cap hell come '06

On the contrary, we'll have 2 1st round picks next year (and Buffalo is looking like a team that will be be in the 5-10 slot overall) we are 7 mil under the cap and Parcells is as happy as he's been in a long long time

You'll improve no doubt the remainder of this year and next..BUT the window of opportunity is shrinking by the day

Great, Dallas can use those two picks on a QB and a RB. In 2008 they'll be dangerous.

Jones may be a good backup, but stud he is not. Henson is a sideshow attraction at best.

cap hell in 06 eh? I don't spose you were one of the many saying that 2 years ago about the cap hell in 04? Or 4 years ago, talking about the cap hell in 02.... You can only say that for soo long before it becomes old and tired. Redskins fans KNOW there is no cap hell ahead. You may think there is, or your trying to somehow convince us there is, but it just don't fly round here buddy. Skins management has shown eveyone that they know how to manipulate the cap successfully, and everyone hates on us for being able to do so when they can't. Jealousy is a bad thing man, you really need to get over it ;-)

la73hof,
What does your vast inside knowledge of the 'Skins supposed "cap hell in 06" tell you about the upcoming renegotiation of the TV rights?

BINGO!!
Until the new TV contracts are negotiated there is no way of telling what the cap situation will be

But then we'll be hearing how the new deal bailed us out

Ok, it's not like we haven't had our share of Coaching/QB shuffles! You guys have had 5 coaches the last 6 years if you include Robiskie whom took over for Turner. Mainly though 4 coaches, if you get rid of the coach mid-season you aint planning on wining! Ya'll didn't give Schotty much of a chance even though he went 8-8 with Banks! Your QB's have been Brunell, Ramsey, Banks, Johnson, 4 different QB's.

We have had 3 different coaches in the last 6 years we had 8 different QB's play (Aikman, Cunningham, Leaf, Stoerner, Wright, Hutchinson, Carter and Testaverde). Don't use that as an excuse because we still beat you when our team was real bad! Aside from last year, you guys had a better record than us each year and we still won?

Well if I grab every backup QB I have to add in Peete for you too. Point is still the same.....

Year- Washington on the left, Dallas on the right.

1999- 10-6 8-8
2000- 8-8 5-11 (Ari, Car, Cin the only other teams we beat)
2001- 8-8 5-11 (Ari, SF, NYG the only other teams we beat)
2002- 7-9 5-11 (was the year you won a game)
2003- 5-11 10-6

We just have your number right now? Your biggest streak on us is 4......
