Headed to Cleveland........

Post by Over the Hill Skin »

......this weekend for the game. I'm going with two other Browns fans, but their both pretty cool. This game is a must win in my mind. We can't afford to fall behind too much further. The Eagles will be 4-0 after their win over the Bears in Chicago. With Grossman done for the year, the Bears might be in alot of trouble. Dallas has a bye this weekend so we know they'll still be 2-1. The G-Men will fall to 2-2 after losing to the Pack in Green Bay. The Giants have to lose this game because I'm taking the Pack in my suicide pool this week! The Browns are so banged up right now, I would be a little disappointed if the Skins don't come away with their second victory. They just lost another starting linebacker this past week. Garcia hasen't found his stride yet. The Brown's receivers strike no fear at all in any opposing defenses. The Skins should be able to continue their blitzing ways against a very limited offense. The one thing the Browns have going for them is their home field advantage. The locals will be hungry for a victory. Their last one was an opening day whipping of the Baltimore Ravens, so home field will be huge to the Browns.

Joe Gibbs has always been very good in short week preparation. I also think his numbers after a Monday night loss are pretty good too. I was surprised to see how bad the Skins have done on Monday night. I think they are something like ten games under .500 all time. That's not very good at all, but I don't know exactly how many were under Allen, Pardee, Pettibone, Turner, Shottenheimer and Spurrier.

I think we all saw some good things this past Monday night. Heck, it was the first time in a long time that we were still competitive in the fourth quarter against Dallas. I know some might not want to hear this, but let's face it, getting beat 27-0 on your home field, as the Skins did last year to Dallas, is very sad indeed. Brunell was very impressive after a sluggish start. Take away his 2-11 start, and his nubers are fantastic. Rod Gardner was huge in that game. Say what you want about the guy, yea he drops some easy ones, but he sure does make some nice catches too! Our O-line has to pick things up a bit. Cleveland's defense should be easy picking for Portis. With a little better blocking, I see a 150+ game rushing for Clinton. I wonder what the story on Kenyatta Jones is? I thought he was doing a pretty fair job of replacing Jansen early on, but where has he been the past two weeks? Injury or doghouse? Anybody have the real answer? Ray Brown is a true warrior, but having a 42 year old OT starting after picking him up a few days before the start of the regular season is very surprising.

Anyway, I was very pleased to see the state of this board after the Dallas loss. It was no where near the depth of the other board I used to post on. No verbal attacks on players, coaches, or other posters. What a breath of fresh air. It says alot about the fans here on this board. It was a very bitter loss to a hated foe, I know I was very upset to say the least, as I'm sure you all were too. It could have got very ugly, but it didn't. That says alot about all of you guys. True Redskin fans through thick and thin!
