Please don't panic.

After scrolling through the posts this morning, I am not surprised to find that many of you have lost the optimism that you once held because of one bad game. Please don't panic.

Obviously, the worry can be solely attributed to the poor play of the offense. The defense has been solid, and almost allowed this team to overcome 7 turnovers and sneak away with a win, which is unheard of.

The offense has been pathetic. But, we must remember that for an offense to work, each player must execute his task precisely and in sync with the players around him. This is not easy. Even offenses that have been together for several years (for instance, the Packers) will struggle. When you throw in the fact that the Skins' players are learning a new offense (and one that is diametrically different than its predecessor), it makes sense that the offense will struggle mightily in the beginning of the season. But, they will only improve as the season progresses.

I predicted the Skins would go 10-6 this season, and I still stand by my prediction. I took into account that the offense would most likely struggle as it has, and I only expected the team to be 3-3 heading into the bye week. I didn't expect the defense to come together so quickly, and if they continue to play at this level, they will win one of the next 4 games on their own (likely against the Ravens).

So, relax. We're only 2 games into the season. The O-line will continue to gel and will open holes for Portis. Ramsey will continue to learn this offense. Gardner will continue to drop easy catches -- oh, wait, that's not good.

This is not time to panic. This is Dallas Week!

Thank you for posting that. People are panicing way too much on this board. It shouldn't be like this during Dallas week.

The bi-polar manner in which the fans on this board can turn from positive to negative reminds me of the type of people who would only be Skins fans if we win and the types of fans that would only come to Redskins camp if Gibbs was here but no other coach. It just angers me that people blow stuff like this out of proportion.

Like you said, we've only played TWO games! There are 14 more! Let's see what develops.

Rah..Rah..Rah..kick'em in the jaw. Don't hit the panic button now...wait until Tuesday morning when the Skins are at the bottom of the division standings 1-2...0-2 in division.

anyone smell puke? Well said Gundo. This team cannot be evaluated until about mid-season. Obviously last week was difficult to watch and the offense is lagging, but I'd rather turn the ball over 7 times a week than have a star on my helmet.

THANK YOU!!! You can't judge a team after two games. (Think Ravens when they won the SB and New England last year - both looked pretty crappy at first - and, dare I say, the Iggles last year? They looked like complete dirt in the beginning of the season.

I said 8-8 or 9-7 before the season and I stood by that. I never thought they would make the playoffs becuase their playing in a new system.

True!

I didn't really feel panic'd at all after this weekend. But I did have this awful sense of deja vu. I suddenly flashed back to the Norv Turner era where the skins would always open games with a dominating first drive leading to a touchdown, then play the rest of the game like they hadn't planned beyond those first twelve plays! hahah. I also remembered wondering why Norv's teams always came out from halftime playing significantly worse than in the first half. What the hell did he say to them in the locker room? And why didn't he quit doing it???

I know in my heart that the Gibbs II era will be nothing like the Norv Turner years. The loss on Sunday just seemed so typical of the Redskins we've known for the past decade.

Well said, Riggofan. Things don't happen overnight. It's going to take some time for them to gel. We might not know until week 7 what this team is made of. I think in a way we needed a swift kick to expose the weakness' directly. If we went into this game 2-0 with still apparent weakness', it wouldn't be pretty. The coaches will have them ready now b/c they've been exposed. There will be no sleep at Redskins park this week!!
