Jerry Rice

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Jerry Rice

Post by tcwest10 »

I'm reading Norval disrespected yet another WR legend and allowed Rice to be benched with a few minutes remaining in the game, keeping him from catching a pass in the game and ending his streak of "games with at least one reception" at 49,873,213 or something. (He IS old, you know.)
Anyway, I don't know what ticks me off more. Norv doing that, or Jerry throwing a hissy fit on the sideline, bouncing his helmet.

I really disagree with Norv's plan to shut Jerry out of the offense. That guy can still play. Bad move by Norv.

I'm sure Norv is working on a plan right now, to turn Jerry Porter into the next Michael Westbrook.

Right, because the Westbrook debacle was Turner's fault...

Westbrook might not have been Turner's fault, but just about everything else was. The guy will fail in Oakland, just like he did in DC. What a mistake not being aware of the "streak" and letting Jerry down like that. I don't condone Jerry's behavior, but Norv's an idiot. I've got nothing nice to say for a ex-puke that should have never been hired here. He caused me much suffering.

the thing that bothers me is if all he is going to do and hang around just to catch a most likely meaningless screen pass for 2 yards, what does the record mean? no one doubts Jerry's legend and this has nothing to do with tranishing his record, the next closest person is tim brown and hed have to play another 10 years to catch it. I'm all for records but they become distorted if you are just hoping to elongate your streak when you're not being effective

Or could it be that Jerry doesn't know when to retire and this is Norv's way of helping him old...no streak no need to keep playing??

Just a thought: did Rice have a single dropped pass in that game?

That's BS. I hated to see that. My dad met Jerry Rice before and said he was really cool. My dad had to attend a 6 week class in San Fran back in 1989. He was sitting beside Rice at a bar having some drinks and talking with him. My dad didn't know who he was at first. Then some people came up and asked for his autograph. My dad looked at him and asked "What's your Name?" He said "Jerry Rice." "I'm the WR for the 49'ers". My dad was surprised. He ask Jerry if he could go grab his camera out of the car so he could take a picture of him to give to me and my brother. He said "Sure. I'll save your seat". My dad grab his camera and took pictures. They bought each other drinks and hung out with some 49er cheerleaders at the bar. Rice asked my dad who his favorite team was and my dad replied the Redskins. Jerry Rice made a face and grimaced. He was just kidding though. My dad said he was a really cool guy. I hate to see him get screwed like that.
Let us all gather around and drink the Cooley-Aid of the Redskins.
