racist?

Seems to me that those who coined the football team name "Redskins" intended to do so as an honor to the Native American warriors who lived here long before white men showed up.

Think about it: who would deliberately mock themselves while naming themselves after a race if the purpose behind the whole idea is one of mockery?

"Name Debates", please go away. We'll rehash this again for the 32nd time after the season ends, when there's nothing else to talk about. Seriously. I'd rather we got into a "Boxers or Briefs ?" debate before we do this one again.
