Is it just me or the WR core not living up to expectations?

Post by 2K1NSM2U »

I thought that the redskins wr core was supposed to be one of the deepest in the nfl. With a pro bowl receiver in Coles, then have 4 more quality reciever in Gardner, Thrash, Jacobs, and still not active D-Mac. Is it just me or does that seem like a hell of a group of WR. On paper it looked like a WR group that could rank among the best in the NFL. After 2 games against average secondaries they havent really done any thing.

no, it's not just you. We've been discussing our 1 receiver Coles all day, the only one on the field that gets anything done. Alligator Arms, stone hands Gardner has been getting worked in this message board heavy-duty today.

Not so sure that it's the receivers, folks. Might be a question of the QB position more than anything else. Best example I saw today was Brunell overthrowing his receiver by about 7 yards... just not a good thing if the QB is not in the rythmn of the game and can't make the pass to the right spot for the receiver. Having said that, a professional receiver does have the obligation to try to adjust on the ball to make the reception, but still, if you are running all out, and the ball still sails past you by a good margin, I dunno what you can do about that.

I'm hoping Darnerien will get some playing time next week against the Cowpies. We really do need him. I hope Coach Gibbs realized that yesterday.

Someone called in to Doc Walker today and said "that stone hands was in the club last night." We know where his mind is.

I agree with DES. Until our QB proves that he can hit an open receiver, defenses are going to stack 8 in the box, pass and run blitz and force us to beat them through the air. Ramsey did some of this yesterday and moved the ball, but made bad decisions at critical times.
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.

With the exception of Portis blocking (some great hits), Cooley receiving, the entire offense was bad not just the receivers. They dropped balls, but both QBs misfired often and the line didn't do the job up front. Seemed like this was a game where if something could go wrong, it did, plain and simple.

Thank God for the defense, it kept us in the game although it wasn't enough. We don't deserve to win when we turn the ball over 7 times. Walk away from this game, learn from it and for goodness sakes, don't let it happen again.

Right now, we're just stuck.

Our smart QB has an underpowered arm.

Our dumb QB has a bazooka.

If we play Brunell the box will be stacked.
If we play Ramsey he's going to make as Joe Gibbs said "ill advised" throws.

None of what I said matters because the WR's aren't going to catch the ball anyway.
