'Prime Time' could get playing time at WR

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

'Prime Time' could get playing time at WR

With just four healthy wide receivers heading into Sunday's home opener against Pittsburgh, the Baltimore Ravens are considering using defensive back Deion Sanders on offense, according to the Washington Post.

A groin injury to Travis Taylor leaves Kevin Johnson as the only healthy WR with more than eight games of NFL experience.

That said, The Post has reported Ravens' coach Brian Billick did not rule out playing Sanders, who ended his three-year retirement Sept. 1, at wide receiver.

"Possibly, but then again, we can't let one problem cascade into difficulties someplace else," Billick said. "We definitely will move towards that, but I don't want to do it at a pace that puts Deion at risk either mentally or physically based on his primary obligation, which is in our secondary."

Sanders worked out with Ravens QB Kyle Boller, rookie WR Devard Darling, tight end Todd Heap, backup QB Kordell Stewart, and quarterback/wide receivers coach David Shaw after Wednesday's practice.

Sanders reportedly said he would welcome the chance to help out on offense, and that as a receiver he would "bring fear to the opposing player."

Sanders has 60 catches for 784 yards and three touchdowns in his 13-year career, but he hasn't caught a pass in the NFL since 1999, when he was with the Dallas Cowboys.

Perhaps Sanders' temporary play on offense will prompt a move by Stewart, who during his "Slash" days in Pittsburgh, caught 41 passes for 658 yards

I'm kind of surprised they are going the Deion route at WR. Surely Kordell would be a more logical (and possibly more productive) option at reciever.

Oh how much I would love to be in the defensive back field with Peion running routes. Wouldn't it be great to see Sean Taylor light up Peion! Maybe end his career for good! :)
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.

He's played. He's tweaked a hamstring. He's doubtful for next week. He's stealing a paycheque (again).
