Redskins fans....?
Ok I have a question/ complaint. I'm a season ticket holder in sec 308 and during the Tampa bay game [or any game for that matter] I am always standing up and cheering for the defense to hold on third downs. That’s the way its suppose to be done right? Well apparently not in my section I had some forty year old women and her husband [both of the were in redskins clothes] throwing stuff at me and telling me to sit down! We got in a pretty heated argument about it but I don't care I'm still am always standing. so my questions is I am in the right here right? and for all those people at the games who are "to good" to stand up and cheer for the skins Go find another team and fill the seats with some more diehards.
thanks for the space to vent the frustration

Man these people would have hated sitting behind us. LOL Jackson is only 3 and already screams and chants DE FENSE!! I certainly have noticed that(at least where I've sat in the club level), the fans are just not there for the right reasons. Very little real cheering. And if you're the one to stand up and do it, they look at you like you've lost your marbles.
You are totally in the right here skinsfan308! Keep up the good work!
And hopefully one day the stadium will be filled with fans like you, HS, and Justice.

We had the same problem. Some older guy behind us was arguing the whole time. If my dad or I questioned a call he would argue with us. If we stood up, he was yelling sit down. At one point, we had to stand up to let someone back into their seat. The punt team was on the field, but waiting for the TV timeout to finish. Thiws guy starts yelling, "Thanks for making everyone stand up, ya schmuck!!"
402 is a good section, and normally we don't sit in front of that guy, so I will be happy to get back to our regular seats.

At the Carolina preseason game, there were some young fellas sitting behind us. One of them was on a cell phone the ENTIRE game, and the other two were just discussing the Panthers players non-stop.
With a few exceptions, most of the people within our immediate area were not terribly focused on the game, with quite a few of them apparently using the game as an excuse to get hammered on $7 beers.
But, my brother an I had a good time cheering and yelling!

There was a man and a woman behind us on Sunday. The woman was wearing a Bucs hat and a the guy was wearing a Bucs hat. After Brunell fumbled the ball and TB scored, the two were really getting loud but it didn't bother my sections. Everyone in front of us just looked at them. But this drunk guy in the section next to us (Redskins1974 and Mrs.1974 know who I'm talking about because the guy was 1 or 2 rows in front of them) got up and started cussing at them and yelling at them. Turns out the "Bucs" fans were really Steelers fans. The guy kept checking his phone for the score of the Steelers game so I was suspicious.
Our endzone was awesome because we stood up whenever we needed to and screamed as loud as we wanted. It was awesome. It sucks to hear stuff like that about your sections. Next time, if someone acts like that just ask them "Where the hell do you think you are? The ballet?"

Sorry guys but I think people who stand up on every play are jerks. No consideration for those around or behind them. A TD or great play - no problem. Stand, high five, yell and then SIT DOWN before the next play. What if that "old man" behind you has a medical problem and can't stand? Or myself, I went through hernia surgery last year during the season. I was able to get to the game but all that walking coupled with the ahole in front of me (not my regular seats that game) standing up to celebrate a 1 yd gain was a real pain - literally. Face it - you paid for the seat just like the guy behind you. Be considerate and let him enjoy the game also.
Take the jerk who stands every play, add a 12 pack and his insane need to high five the guys 3 sections away and it makes for a long and frustrating day. At the prices we pay for those seats it would be nice if you could actually see the game w/o catching the butt crack of the slob in front of you.
Thank God for the Clubs. People there are actually fans and humans.....

We weren't standing on every play. This guy had a problem if you stood on any play. He didn't seem to have any problem standing when it suited his needs.
I guess we have different ideas of what being a fan means. To me, getting excited and celebrating are part of the experience. What kind of home field advantage would we have if no one cheered? The answer is not much. Standing up to get a better view of Portis' run is a problem? I don't see it that way. High fiving someone you know because we made a great play is wrong? I guess that just doesn't make much sense.
To me, if you want to sit and enjoy peace and quiet during the game, there's no place better than in your living room, although that's just my opinion.

Scott,
Not arguing about a great play and standing up but you're not the only one in the stadium - DIG? And there was plenty of cheering and high fiving, etc... in my section as well as the rest of the clubs. Just not every stinking play.... And cheering is great and expected ALL the time. But come on - there are some who stand the whole game and that is rude. Usually those same people are the ones that get loaded, argue everything and pass out or puke by the 3rd quarter. That is not a great fan in my book.
And an Eagles fan schooling anyone on fan etiquette - what a joke! I've been to the Vet - should have been imploded years ago with the Eagles fans inside!

OK, I can agree with you there. Most fans (myself included) stand only when appropriate. Every section has drunk, obnoxious fans that scream and curse and smack you on the back when you get a two yard gain on 3rd and 26.
I think we are mostly in agreement, only we both mistook each other arguments. For lack of better terms, I was arguing the moderate conservative thinking you were arguing the extreme liberal views, and you were arguing the moderate liberal views thinking I was arguing extreme conservative views, when really we were arguing the same thing from opposite perpectives. oh no, I've gone cross-eyed.

Smack? Saying Eagle fans suck is not an insult but a simple fact of life. Can I get an AMEN 'skins fans? Anything worse and I would be happy to post in the smack forum. 1st up would be that avatar of yours!
And Scotty - you are right we are saying the same thing. There is a right time and place for just about everything. I just get upset with fans who stand the whole game and act like it's their God given right to ruin your day. But those who sit and knit - that's not acceptable either.

In other words, no cheering? Wow, so sad. I guess there was a lot of complaining on Monday because it was pretty loud.
