One player we may have overlooked..

I thought Tupa did a great job Sunday...those low line drive 50 yarders towards the sidelines, were so effective..What a great asset he is for our D :D

Bingo!!! This was one of our best pickips this offseason. I think he will help tremendously with our field position and scoring. It also helps our defense stay on all cylinders.

And he qualifies for Social Security soon.!!!!

Just kidding ..... he did a great job. We haven't had a punter like him since Roby or Cox.

I cant wait for the first fake punt where he tosses one twenty yards for a first down.

Of when he comes up from a Field Goal snap to toss a fifteen yarder for a touchdown!

I agree with the masses--Tupa was a great pickup!

I can't believe no one has mentioned the fact that he was on TB last year. Not that it matters, but I just remembered. That was probably a BIG game for him personally. He's 1 of the best off-season moves we made. It's nice to know our punts wil travel more then 25 yards everytime!

I couldn't agree more. I think his first punt was in our the team's own territory. It headed my way and went out at the 16. I thought it was at about the 25. I was very impressed. He has really great placement that I haven't seen in a while.

I selected Tupa in that poll that was posted.

I agree, DEHog. Precision punting. Helps a lot, don't it?

Punting and kickoffs are so huge for a football team. So many times in the past we've had kickers who could only get the ball to the 10-20 yard line. A 20 yard run back starts you on the 40. Bad punting, same difference. It's soo nice to have two good guys in Hall and Tupa.

he also played for cleveland (week 4), the cards, colts, pats and jets. given his travels, i think he'll meet up with a former team once or twice a year.

Tupa

Post by USAFSkinFan »

I have to say, I was a little worried about Tupa in preseason when I was on the sidelines of one of the games watching he and Stemke practice side by side before the game. Tupa looked like a high school kid next to Stemke's booming kicks. Big difference was Stemke would shank one out of about every five or six. Even so, I think Tupa's selling point, besides experience, was that he's a comfortable holder for Hall as well as a one time QB.

I hadn't given it much thought - and that is great because in years past you had to because it sucked so much. Love it when someone does their job so well that you don't notice.

That isn't entirely true, I did notice but you get my point.

Hope Hall gets his kickoffs a little deeper - might have been kicking into a head wind on Sun. so will cut him some slack.

NC43 - I couldnt agree more with you about Hall. I saw his stats on Sundays game it was like 11 TB's in seventy some tries. Not too good. I am not complaining about his place kicking but do wish he could get a little more on his KO's.

agreed skins75, but Hall isn't that bad on kickoffs. He usually gets it between the 5 and 10. There aren't many kickers who boot it out of the endzone, and those guys aren't necessarily the best field goal kickers. I'm completely happy with an average of them catching it on the 10. Our past kickers were so much worse than Hall is. Hall had an off week for whatever reason last week, but he'll rebound. At least we didn't see guys catching a kickoff on the 20 yard line....
