Why was D-Mac inactive today?

Post by 1niksder »

Has anyone heard why D-Mac was on the inactive list today?
He's also listed has the 5th receiver on the depth chart, I haven't read anything about a injury... maybe it's because Taylor Jacobs plays a lot of ST and we needed the roster spot for someone else....
Thankfully Gardner stepped it up today

I have no idea. My mom and I were pretty po'd to see him not play or dress. I asked Sultan McCullough why D-Mac was out and he said something along the lines of "The other receivers were just better." I didn't buy it at all. I saw him 5th on the depth chart a few days ago. Very mind-boggling.

I like both Thrash and Jacobs but better than D-Mac... I don't think so

I don't know and we didn't get a chance to talk to Darnerien after the game but I'm thinking something stinks and it's not Darnerien. That guy really wants to play ball and I'm sure someone out there will take him if we're not going to use him ! It will then be OUR loss and he will come back to haunt us. Again...he didn't get much chance to show anything on the field in preseason. They never threw it his way last preseason game... went to Jacobs every time. Something's just not right....and yes....I'm ticked off.

SkinsChic, If you recall Gibbs said that Jacobs had an outstanding camp (when healthy) and that his routes were perfect. Trust the coaches, you may recall when Matt Millen was inactive for a super bowl against Buffalo. Millen had stuffed the run all year, but the coaches made him inactive against the no-huddle K-Gun offense. Millen was disappointed but he is still wearing the super bowl ring. Don't be surprised if D-Mac is active and has a significant role in the Giants game. They have smallish corners that may struggle with his size. It's a long season, I'm sure we'll see plenty of McCants.

From the Post:

McCants Is Inactive

Wide receiver Darnerien McCants, who tied for the team lead in touchdown catches last season, was inactive for the game. McCants entered training camp battling James Thrash for the third wide receiver spot, but lost out to Taylor Jacobs for the final slot at that position on the active roster.

McCants appeared in 15 games last season -- including one start -- and set career highs with 27 catches, 360 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was drafted by the Redskins in the fifth round of the 2001 draft (154th overall). Washington gave McCants a four-year, $4.5 million contract extension in the offseason, including a $2 million signing bonus, making the decision to list him as inactive even more surprising. Jacobs dressed for the game but did not play.

D-Mac should be on the active roster this week. New York's starting DBs are 5'10 and 6' his size should make for a easy target for Mark and there can't be that much of a difference between him and Taylor...We might want to dress 5 receivers this week anyway

I sure hope you guys are right and he gets some playing time. A Couple touchdowns wouldn't hurt.

Maybe carrying that purse you gave him has influenced the coaches negatively.

How 'bout we bench 50/50 and play McCants!
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.
